Is this a quote from "Trhough the Fire"? You have to excuse because I dont listen to radio and mainstream hip hop on the regular. Actually its very rare. But I can easily explain that a bar like this is called a "lyrical metaphor".Lyrical Metaphors are very common in hip hop and is the second ingriedient to a great song. For example to explain a better metaphor will use the song: Good To You By Talib KweliMy stance has got stamina, ya verses lack vertebrae I heard them say I was a conscious rapperBut I'm a monster when I hafta smack the stuff out of a nonsense actorUsing my 'hands solo' and I don't need chewyOver your head like Yamakas and Koofies yoI write screenjems ya'll brothas act in B-movies,type of brothas proud to be groupiesOk this is one of my favorite verses.... lets take the words "hands solo" and "chewy. (get it? Han Solo and Chewy from Star Wars) Although it refered to a violent act, he was metaphorically speaking of the Star Wars characters, and then only to end the verse to using additional Hollywood or movie/celeb references. Im sure you can find another one in there. This is what makes rappers good. now if you compare my example to yours you who would you pick. But in reference to what Kayne meant. It has something to do with either BIG's health or having a condition like that running in his family because he and his mother are both Jamaican

The phrase before that he said "the Dr. said I have blood clots, but I ain't Jamaican man." Blood clot is a Jamaican saying or vulgarity (depending on how it is used.) He was using it like yank described, it was a metaphor. He took a noun referring to one thing and used it a different way. WHAT THE BLOOD CLOT!!!!!!! LOLLater!!!

LL Cool J made it somewhat popular during that sitcom In the House. Different Urban Cities do different things when it comes to wearing clothes (with the exception of saggy pants LOL ) Out west they wear Converse Chuck Taylor's (even when they weren't in style) Detroit was known alot for Alligator Shoes and Adidas Top Ten Gym Shoes.Actually, I believe that is also a way to show that you are Selling or Packing.

Quote, originally posted by robdog »Why even listen to hip hop, now that is the questionI like it when people ask this question, hmmm why listen to hip hop.. no one can really answer that question but I can tell you why I listen it. This music lets you express yourself in what ever way you see fit. About the only expresssion missing is gay in which I dont think is too far behind at this point. But from back when children used to jump rope in the streets hip hop as always been a form of expression a mouthpiece for everyone that has something to say from a simple battle rap to a verbal shot at the President. That is what I love about and why I listen. One of the last forms of free speech left in this country.

Hip Hop is in this 3rd going on 4th Generation now and some folk have made it but still listen and express. They drive those same cars and some even were the gators when out on the town. But these people are business owners, high profile officers and even public service men and women.
