Confusion and panic in a given situation. I've read that there are only one or two confirmed instances of mechanical defect in all of the reported Toyota cases. (outside of floor mat displacement) Heck, my female cousin did it back in the early 70's in my 68 Chevelle. As we were slowly Creeping towards a house across a strangers front yard, I'm screaming STEP ON THE BRAKE AND CLUTCH her screaming back I AM I AM !! when in actuality she was pressing on both the gas and the brake with all her might.......dumb blonde !! I have been dirt track racing from 1986 to 2004 in a late model sportsman , If you dont drive with both your in the way and I was rarely in the way , Drag racing from 1998 to 2005I picked up driving in that mannor and have done it almost half my life now , This wasent an issue with hitting the wrong peddle My peddle stuck and I was able to duplicate it and why I took the floor mat and cut it and had it resewn because I dont like my new car with out mats , that issue is cured but need to do the throttle recall For those that dont know all driving schools that are worth going to teach driving with both feet even with a auto , The brake time for 2 feet driving gives you an extra 8feet distance at 70 miles an hr to dead stop , it isnt for the commor commuter to start doing I agree but for defensive driving it is the way to drive Tom

Good thing you have those driving skills! Also good to KNOW why your throttle "stuck" (actually jammed). The floor mat is a very real issue, the other recall with the shim.....questionable and possibly a procedure devised to shut up the negative media.Electronic drive by wire issues, highly unlikely and despite much testing and analysis not recreated. Not to say Toyota's system can't be improved upon with a manual kill switch though. (panic button if you will, like a pool or spa cut off button)I assume your car doesn't have the floor hooks but only the grommets in the carpet for their installation? Also curious, From your rehem statement, you don't have the heavy duty all weather mat installed and only have the original equipment carpet mats or do you have an aftermarket mat system?Dave
