I understand why people are freaked out over these Toyota issues, but as pointed out above, virtually all cars have recalls for both serious and non serious stuff. A little group psychology is at work here and some panic is showing up. I have had dozens of cars over the last 45 years and the Toyotas have been the best. In my experience with car ownership they have beaten Honda, BMW, Mazda, Ford, Chrysler and GM on every count. I do all of my own mechanic work and when you do that you really get to know the cars. I now own a 1996 Prism (Corolla re-badged), 2001 Echo and a 2005 Vibe (only for 2 weeks though), have in the past owned a Corolla and my son owns a Corolla. I have worked on them all and I am not so far seeing any reason to believe the Vibe is an exception to my Toyota experience.

My favorite recall was for my 2003 Saab 9-3. It needed to have a page added to the owners manual.

They sent a letter along with the sticker and told you were to put it and everything. Needless to say the sticker did not get put on the hood .

Ramona, Ca. = no snow, so no salt to eat it up.!Keep it waxed and make sure the oil doesn't get too dirty. 20 years, is doable for this car!
