Well, I am not happy about it, but the main person who is organizing this event has vanished. Not good...not good at all.

Well I'm happy to say I didn't fall off a cliff or anything, just had a few issues that needed to be straitened out before I could do anything.The good news is I'm back! the bad news I don't have anything done for the meet in july, I was hoping someone stepped in and took over but so far it doesn't look that way, well what do you think? think we can pull this off for July still??? or should we move it to August? .... I do like the flyer Idea and will create one once we have a definate location and date.... just let me know...

I think that we can still get this meet going, but we need to do it quickly. However, one must be realistic to assume that there is no way that we are getting 100 cars together.There is a Toyota Nation meet on July 9th at 8 PM. Last month we had quite a few Matrix' and my Vibe (8 cars in total). If we can get some of you Vibe's along, that would make it very nice. It is being held at Krispy Kreme in Mississauga (Mavis and Britannia Rd).If you come, we can get things finalized.

Won't be there tonight I can't get time off for it. as for our meet Coburg has a great beach but not too much parking. Oshawa has a smaller beach, not as clean but has ample parking, 3 lots to be exact and I'm sure pulling some strings could probably get one of them roped off just for us. give me your thoughts guys.

Well -- as one of us out here in southwestern Ontario, I'll have to say that if it's past Toronto, I'm out 2+ hours drive for me, and I'd be doing this as a day trip, not a weekend or anything.....Beaches are great and all, but I'm interested in meeting up with some of the other owners, and seeing Vibes/Matrixes -- not sitting on a beach But all-in-all -- lets try and get something happening, eh?

Maybe the best thing to do is just to take a poll to see where everyone is and how far they are willing to go. I don't know how to best divide up the categories because while some of us are willing to drive 2 hrs+, others may not want to drive more than 20 mins from their neighbourhood. Any suggestions?

Hey Zed, what beach are you referring to in Oshawa? Darlington Park has a back entrance (by foot only, but free) from the GM Headquarters lot which is walking distance from a picnic area. There are nature/walking trails and picnic tables behind the GM building and the main entrance would make a great photo backdrop. Just a thought...

a poll is a good idea.. instead of how far one will drive.. how bout we all just nominate locations/towns/cities/whatever.. and vote on that.... that way this all can be finalized one way or another... give it a week or so for everone to vote then close it down.... whatever place has the most votes wins!.. and that is the place of the meet.... easy enough.....i understand other meets had gm "sponser" .. any threds on this>?

I like the poll Idea and have voted but at the same time it isn't deciding as to where, I mean in TO alone I can think of several different spots not to mention that you could consider TO to mean the Durham region as well...........MadBill I was refering to Lakeview Park in Oshawa at the foot of Simcoe st. I only suggested this for the reason I know there are several people that visit here on a daily basis and we could turn this into an event instead of a meet.At this point I personally think moving this to August would do justice gives us that much more time to get our act together, sure we could throw this together in a week but we take a little more time and we can get us some sponsers. I think that would motivate some other owners to come. you put a flyer on a car saying free this free that and they are more likely to make an appearance or even use them as prises for things like furthest drive best mod etc.... I mean some of the people or should I say companies that I know would want a bit of time to get something together, not only that we all know how slow GM can be sometimes. Input here people either way we have to decide and get the ball rolling. Another Idea is to designate 3-4 people to deal with this and what they say is final....

i agree that t.o is large... but if enough ppl choose that.. then we can pic the specs later... well its the 14 now... i read before that someone suggested the 27th?? isnt that the stones concert? if so... t.o. = bad idea..... 600,000 ppl.. will be tryin to get down to the city... rural maybe better... but cant over look the fact that some voted for august.. and some although voted for july want august... cant be the first wknd.. cause that is a long wknd... have to be the second one....so like the 9th???? ...we can let the poll run on for a little longer.. another week or so if august is the new date..... what kinda support can come from gm/toyota? any one with conections???free sh*t = attendance...... if there are alot of ppl attending with aftermarket mods... it might also be possible to invite some of the performance shops to come... if the turn out is right... dont want to waste there time.... anyway just throwin ideas out there.... i want this to wrk,,.. i want to see some of the mods i read about.... maybe a designation of ppl is not a bad idea....

Toronto is not car friendly. Have it outside of Toronto. Toronto is next to impossible to get in to and get out of. The message is loud and clear from Toronto. You're welcome here, but leave your car at home.

All I know is that nothing can really be done to start anything until a place and date are set. how can we attempt to advertise something that we don't even know when it is,,,, Hey there want to come to a meet..... when ummm I'll get back to you on that one...

I do agree I don't mind helping with the organizing but I can't take it all on if this is going to be big... first thing is first... who is willing to help out and we can designate certain things.... I will take the first step here and post a poll with 3 or 4 places and go from there.

I will help as much as possible (however, $$$ wise I am extremely tight as I am out of work). That is why I am willing to be part of the planning and implementing of this August meet. I have the backing of MistaMatrix (who's a Moderator/Administrator for Matrix/Vibe.net, Toyota Nation)....he will do his part to get the Matrix' out, our job is to get as many Vibe's as possible. I am willing to stick as many flyers on Vibe's and Matrix' as I can and as I see to adversise this meet. As mentioned before, since Toyota Nation meets up every two weeks, if more than my lonly Vibe show up, we can drum up support. (they meet at Kennedy Commons middle of the month and at Krispy Kreme at the end of the month, both on a Saturday night...there should be a link somewhere on this forum).

Well I have a color laser printer here so getting colour won't be a problem. right now we need a place to have it. So far the voting is heading towards Oshawa. once we get this settled ( I think we should close the voting on Wednesday) we can pick a date.... At Work, Big Red if your willing to help out here then I think the 3 of us can pull this off between the 3 of us I think we can cover the GTA, once we have a date picked then the flyers can be produced, and then we can also approach sponsers etc... give me some thoughts here. You know I'm begining to think Oshawa is a good place really, I travel between Bowmanville and Woodbridge on a daily basis and I tell you the majority of the Vibes I see are in the Oshawa Whitby area. I'm sure if we make it close for them then they will be more likely to attend. As for the Toyota meet I'm going to do my best to be there, lets get this place and date thing settled by then and we can start handing out flyers there. BTW the meet is on the 26th right?

I thought we had agreed that July 26th is too close to organize a meet....I mean it is by this weekend. If we are going to do this, we should have it sometime in August.As for helping....count me in! I will also try to get MistaMatrix involved as he has the Matrix group in check.

Great idea. Also, if we have the date set and flyers printed, you can take some of them down to the PA meet and hand them out. Let some of our American counterparts come up to Canada for a meet as well. Also, if we are on GM property, maybe we can have one of their guys bring down a Supercharged Vibe like they did at the Michigan meet.

I was talking about the Toyota meet on the 26th at KC, I like the Idea of using the GM Parking lot,,,, I know where you are talking about, right there beside Minacs with the big SSR on the front. Cornial Sam or something like that... alright so How about we make an executive desicion here and say Oshawa is the place. now date???I'm good for 16th ,23rd, or 30th of August let me know

Any of those dates sound good to me....however, let's say the 23rd. That way we have more than enough time to deal with any problems that may arise. I vote against the 30th, since many people do have families and the Labour Day long weekend is the last chance for a weekend away before school starts up again. Therefore the 23rd would be better.As for the flyer....nice but too busy. Will sit down today and create one and post it....later on today or tonight (but all the information was good).

Once the decision has been made by the 3 of us, I will post a sticky on Matrix/Vibe.net and Matrixowners.com. This should work.

okay that is going to have to wait until later... I will stop by there on my way home and see what they say.... even if they say no there is a beach right behind there that they have no control over.

Parking in the lot probably won't be an issue, but I will check with security tomorrow just to be sure. I will also ask around to see if there is a brand quality manager for Vibes in Canada. I can't promise anything, but at the very least will try to get us a contact in marketing. RoundUp

alright if I have it right with you I just have to wait for Red to give me his opinion and I can start production of these babies! I do beleive that the pictures are posted here as well a little further up, let me know what you think about that. or do you think I should use a pic from our get together in May that Red took?

Thanks Bill I over looked that when I threw this together.... I know the cars aren't showing up for you, it's because I have taken a publisher file and converted it to HTM for some reason it doesn't like pictures when you do that, I would have posted the publisher file but not everyone has publisher

okay have a look at revision 2Bill Notice I fixed the spelling errors What do we think of this? I will explain here, the Vibe is in the top left corner, it's that Orange one from before, the Matrix is in the top right corner, it's the dark blue one from before, What I added was a picture of the Semi Circle Red Took in May right in the middle of the page. is this too much? my problem is if we use that pic instead of the orange vibe then we would have to get something like that for the Matirx as well just to be fair. don't want someone to look at it and think that we are bias to the Vibe (hehe)

Aces, Tim! (and I can even see the cars!) Now my only comment is: It looks so Pro, do we need to tell people it isn't GM-sponsored (yet...)?

I think we should wait on that, cuz by the time it gets here it may very well be if I get my way.... okay here is the 3rd and final ( I hope) DraftI have altered it a wee bit trying to get it better I decided to put a map and directions on the back so I will post that right after this, let me know your thoughts and once we decide it's good to go I'll start the production.

okay the call has been made to GM I'm waiting for a response from them. so far everyone there I have talked to loves the Idea and doesn't think it will be a problem. right now I'm waiting for Security to OK it for the 23rd.... Nice flyer Red it is easier on the eyes but at the same time you need to catch their eyes.

okay all I could pump out here was 3 of each,,, I just hope that GM is good to go for this....if not we are going to have some problems. One other thing about Red's flyer..... how are we going to know who to expect. or how many people are coming,, I'm sure we are going to have to hand GM some numbers a week or so before the event.

Now I have emailed all of the Pontiac Dealerships from Scarborough to Cobourg asking for support... Can someone else do Toyota????I can't spend any more time on this this week and we have to get it done ASAP it's less then a month away

I have a contact in marketing. I was told to submit a proposal as soon as possible if we want to be considered for sponsorship. (It may actually be a little late. They would need more lead time to make any arrangements for us, but we should at least try.) Do we have some realistic numbers of how many are confirmed? Is it going to be Aug. 23rd for sure? Also, is there some sort of itinerary (should we have a convoy going through Oshawa or between Oshawa and Toronto)?Please let me know if you want me to go ahead with the proposal. RoundUp

Tim - As for my flyer compared to yours.....I actually like your more, but use the pics of the Vibe and Matrix on your ad (Since they are the new 2004 colours available).As far as dealer sponsorship, I have to take my car in for service anyway...so I will speak with the Manager/Owner of the dealership. However, what exactly should I ask them for? Sponsorship....are we talking $$$ or free accessories or what?As for the itinerary. Although it would be nice to have a convoy from the west end to Oshawa (if we don't know how many cars are coming then it may just be easier to meet there).

well it may very well be a little late to submit for sponcership from GM, I'm not that worried about it honestly. the last time I started this GM told me that I would be better off dealing with the different dealerships which I have already done and have received a couple responses from already. plus I have spoken to the people at headquarters in the shwa and all is in line so far. As for the convoy that we are going to have to wait and see about. don't know how many people are coming from that way yet if you guys coming from the west want to meet somewhere and drive out together then go for it arrange away would be pretty cool to see on the 401 thats for sure.

well I basically what I wrote was that we were having a non-profit gathering at the GM Headquarters in Oshawa and we would appreciate a donation from your dealship that we would be able to use for a prize yadda yadda yadda... I also mentioned something along the lines of coming out and displaying some of the 2004 cars if that would be something they would be interested in.... so far I have been told by 2 dealships to call them 2 weeks before the event and they will gladly donate something. and that it's great what we are doing yadda yadda yadda.

I am re-wamping my flyer (and yes, I will be borrowing some of your flyer Tim). However, if you use the same pictures I have (since they are the new 2004 colours), then it would be nice. I will print of some copies in colour (and will also add your phone number to it)....will post the new one when it is done.
