Toyota must list two different part numbers for a reason, they gave you the one for a 2zz (90919-02238).Go back and get the right one...I am curious if it is giving you a new code with that coil though.

code comes up the same... but to the P1305 code (ignition circuit malfunction #2) is a note added:(1998-2000 Land cruiser, 200 celica, tundra)weird. I'll check with the dealer tomorrow to thriple-check the part.

Might be helpful, when you go to a Toyota dealer tell them your engine code is 'R' for a 1zz. I've run into parts guys that only know how to look them up by vin code...

ya, the parts guy looked up the code 8 first, but there was two engine codes 2zz-ge and 1zz-fe... he said that the same part was coming up for both... so im not sure if this is correct or not. another long-shot possibility is that the part itself was cataloged/sorted wrong so I didnt get the right part. In any case, I will check with Toyota.

I'm happy I can finally put this issue to rest. Got the proper coil from toyota yesterday and installed in 2min in the parking lot before driving off. It's been running so crappy for so long I almost forgot what it's like when it runs nicely! The coil was $110 at Toyota (compared to $85 from my parts guy), so quite a difference in price, but I'm just happy the car is back to working order. I must have had old codes that were not erased or somethign when it was first showing misfire on 3 cylinders... that really dragged out the diagnostic process a little longer than it should have lasted. But the new plugs, pcv, intake cleaning, etc that I've done in the early stages of diagnostics make the ride even better so no harm done.Worst thing is my parts guy will not take back the GT coil he erroneously sold me. I'll be visiting his manager on Monday and I'll be leaving it on his desk... he can decide whether to put it back on the shelve to sell again (while giving me a refund) or throw in the garbage. Unless there is a genviber who wants a cheap GT coil for just in case!?! It's a Denso Toyota stock replacement part. Let me know and I'll sell it for $60CDN+shipping.Thanks for all the help guys!

Sdavis,In a few weeks I am hoping to bring in a Toyota Parts Department as a vendor and they will be able to give members here 20% off parts and free shipping. I am not sure if that will correlate to Canadian members, but it is worth a shot. Congrats on getting her back up and running!
