The parking brake trick doesn't work in our '06 base (5-spd) Vibe. Even when the car is started with the parking brake engaged we still get the DRLs on.I have a related issue with the automatic headlights. I sometimes attend astronomical 'star parties' where everyone sets up their telescopes. Car lights are very objectionable to those who are trying to keep their eyes dark-adapted and even more so to those taking pictures. So when someone is driving in or out we usually have them be guided by another member using a rather dim red flashlight and keep the car lights off until some distance away.Does anyone happen to know what combination of fuses I need to pull to be able to drive a dark car? Looks like 'HEAD MAIN' and 'TAIL' should kill the headlights, running lights, tail lights, and license plate light. Not clear in the manual which fuse serves the backup lights.

Integrity is an important issue also. DRL reduces ones insurance rate. If they are disabled don't forget to notify your insurance agent so they can adjust your rates.

I did the "cut the red/white wire" variant, hooked it up to a switch. I normally leave them on, but have power now to control them to be off in those few times when I need to turn them off.I forget which of the multiple DRL threads it is described in.
