I hated the Pontiac look also. Matrix has a better looking front end. but overall, Pontiac is much better looking than Matrix except for the front end.oh!! the GM $2,000 rebate, and GM card $2,003 points make the Vibe much better looking also!!!

this might be a damn question. but I thought it might be related. how do you take off the plastic end of the roof rack (so I can remove the 2 horizontal bars). I tried really hard holding them and pull back/upward. am I just too wimpy? is there a trick?

silverawd26, thanks a lot for the link. here I quote Nova"Basically you just remove the black plastic end pieces on the back of the rack side bars. They pull off straight up. "but I am having problem removing the black plastic. I tried pulling off straight up, but it won't budge. I even had someone else help pulling it together. there must be a trick or something.I do like the look of Nova's Vibe, w/o the lateral bar, it looks much cleaner, plus I believe it should quiet down wind noise somewhat.

I tried pulling off straight up, but it won't budge. I even had someone else help pulling it together. there must be a trick or something.I BROKE MINE trying to get it off. There's a yellow plastic retainer thing under there that holds it down, which probably under most cases would pull up, but mine didn't. I pulled straight up, but it broke the black plastic up under the end cap where the "yellow plastic thingie" attaches. Once I had the cap off, I removed the "yellow plastic thingie" and epoxied the pieces and it into the end cap and put it back on. I think it will hold.I should have taken some pics to show you what happened before I re-installed it.For those who have removed the end cap, do you think it would be possible to pull up the front end of the end cap and pull it forward, up over the silver rails to remove???? I don't really think it is possible the way it is designed. (for assembly only)Thanks,Carl

I was just doing a test run on them.. and believe me, those buggers are really on there.I'm sure they are not made for frequent removal as cohocarl said.

Yes, it's very tough to get off. I just wiggled the end cap back and forth while pulling straight up. I was afraid it was going to break too but I guess I got lucky. There is always the Pontiac dealer for new parts of it breaks.

I kinda skipped pages 2-5, so if the topic is already over you all kind just beat me into unconciousness or something.I agree that I would haveat least gotten rims before shaving the handles, but it doesn't cost $2000 to $3000 to do it. There's pretty inexpensive kits made for it, and a friend of mine shaved her Nissan Senta completely (Door handles, back of bumper, some minor body panels) and offered to shave mine for me as well. Once I get the money to get it repainted I'll take her up on her offer and take some high quality photos of it for you

Basically. The car's stripped down and the handles are removed and the spaces filled in so that it's smooth. In a lot of door shaving kits there's a remote included that pops the door open for you so you can still get in the car
