So far I am lucky I guess...First ticket was in the city during rush hour - 48 in a 35 zone. Cost: $70 That was in my first car, my '89 Chevy Blazer Then a year later is my Highschool graduation, I get a Jeep Cherokee for a car, on my way to a race I get picked up by a PLANE flying overhead that radioed the State Patrol later on. 82mph in 65 zone, and the fine: $200First ticket was 4 points, a year went by so it dropped to two. Then I get this 2nd ticket, and since I was a probitionary liscence the points were doubled. 4 become 8, and I am up to 10 points total allowed out of 12. Well, the 2 pts are gone now, and 1 more year and my record is clean again - nothing yet in the Vibe (of course, I've had it all of 2 weeks this week) but I am a bit more careful driving these days ... that $200 really hit me hard >_On a side note, for anyone taking a trip to Ohio anytime soon, check this out, if you ever plan on driving through a town called "New Rome" do whatever you can to bypass it, it is the worst traffic city in the USA - and they only have a 1,000foot stretch of road to work with. Read the stories and stay away: http://www.newromesucks.comJust thought I'd pass on this info, getting a ticket in such a bass-ackwards place as New Rome isn't right ...

Yea. Here in Wisconsin at times they have a plane flying along or perpendicular to the interstate and have a rather large speed trap set up. A really cool system - you don't see the cop cars till much later down the road, and who's really gonna suspect a plane flying overhead ...I saw one last year right out of Madison going W on I94, there were 3 pulled over cars, 1 undercover Impala driving backwards at 40mph, and 2 more state troopers farther up the road - all with a plane flying overhead. It was insane...On the same note, when I did get my ticket on the interstate, I was in a good mood so I didn't care much (sh*t happens....) and the officer was rather surprised when I asked him what kind of plane it was they were flying overhead to catch speeders (which I said in a rather cheerfy voice) and he had to search for a response (wasn't prepared to get that sorta question from a cheerful 18 year old I guess...) and he said it was some Cessna or something. And ... umm ... ;-)

I'd sue the cop for libel, saying the Vibe was an Aztek. Ewww. That's just not cool at all! I happen to think the Vibe is one of the sharpest looking cars to come out of GM in a long time, resembles the '03 Sunfire but with more dignity, less smirk. The only problem with the Vibe is that it does look an awful lot like the Aztek, and that taints it. If the Aztek had never existed, the Vibe would look a lot better.

I've never been nailed by an aircraft...I always thought that was oldschool, and they didn't do it anymore...guess I'm wrong!

quote:Yes the plane flies above the highway and there are some markings on the asphalt that are a fixed distance.....So the planes officers start the clock when you go past a marking and the stop it when you reach the second one..... with the distance and the time it took you they know how fast you were going and can ticket you easily!Yes, that's called VASCAR (Visual Average Speed Calculated And Recorded). They do that around here too but not just with planes and helicopters. They use cars as well. I got nailed once in the Nova that way (many years ago).
