quote:I think the color of the two-tone cladding is very close to "Shadow."It is extremely close. See comparison below:Shadow with two-tone: (this is millster's Vibe GT)Shadow with monotone:As you can see they are very similar. I have seen both in person and say they look good either way. From far away it's almost impossible to tell the difference when clean.See this thread also:

AWESOME PICS! Nice job. It's amazing how close they look. The only real difference is the gloss vs satin finish of the two.

Well when I first bought my Vibe, there were two Satellite's right by eachother, one in the two-tone and the other in the monotone. I ran straight for the Two-Tone because it looked a lot better and much more SUV like. Then I saw a black monotone and I was like "Hey, I like the monotone better" and then again I saw another Satellite with the two tone and changed my mind again. I think it depends on the color you get. But I'm very happy now with my choice even though I changed my mind a couple of times. But by far, I do think that the Satellite looks good either way! Not to mention it's easier to take care of.

Like many, for me it depends on the color on if I prefer it two tone or monotone. Two tone, I especially like lava and satellite and for monotone, I like neptune and abyss. The rest I like equally well two tone or monotone. At the end of the day though, I like them all.

I have a two-tone satellite. I agree with Zamboni Guy and think some colors look better with two tone, others as monotone. Maybe the generic gray plastic parts will be easier to find matching replacements if I ever need them, and I'm hoping they hide minor scratches and dings.Seems to be a pretty even split on preference, so what really matters is if you like the way your own vibe looks. I like mine. Doesn't really matter to me if you don't.

I personally like two-tone better because the mono-tones look more like mini-vans in certain colors that is.

I would have to vote for the two-tone as well. I do agree with some of the others here that there are some colors that seem to look better in monotone, but I personally thought the two-tone gives the vibe the look of a mini-suv which was the direction in which I was leaning. I also liked how the two-tone comes with the extended rocker moldings now (in '04) and that kind of swayed me too as I like the look of the newer moldings.

When I ordered mine,I couldn't get monotone envy. Now that I have two-tone,I like it better. But with abyss and frosty,I like monotone better.A lot of people here don't like my color, but it looks good next to my fusion sunfire! I have the most colorful driveway in town!

threekrows, Do you have pics of your two together? Or pics of your Vibe? It would be cool to see!

I have a Fusion (Sunburst) two-tone Vibe, but I love the Envy. If I had a TLC (truck load of cash), his and hers in Fusion and Envy would be a beautiful site.

I hated the VIBE til i saw the monotone. Im sorry but i really don't understand GM's trend of slapping 30 pounds of cheap looking pastic on a car and calling it macho. With the monotone package at least it looks sleek like a real car. I hate SUVs and the two tone makes me wretch because it reminds me of the above mentioned trend. I would classify the Vibe as a Sport Wagon, not a SUV, similar to a Subaru Wagon... and frankly the two tone is kind of a Subaru Outback ripoff. My dad drives a Silverado, and my mom and her husband drive an Avalanche, and despite the vehicle being almost identical, i prefer the avalanche ONLY because they opted to get all that plastic molding painted instead of keeping it Grey. (Dads Silverado is a 99 Same body but without aggressive front end) I like the sleep choices of lines GM has done with the Vibe, and with the monotone package, it feels sporty, instead of faux suv-esque.I will not buy a VIBE without a monotone package. 'Nuff Said.~Jason

Some of us wanted a monotone Vibe but with crazy waiting times to get one in Canada I grabbed the first Vibe I got. I prefer monotone but still love my Vibe and I don't think it makes the car look cheap but to each his own I guess BTW does this look cheap to you?

Two tone makes for a good looking Vibe but myself I prefer Monotone and got it on my Vibe. Certainly doesn't make it look rich and two tone looking poor... but I just like one solid colour.

I am more referring to the Escalades, Avalanches etc... cars that vehicles that use the two-tone has an extra molding, rather than a ground effects molding.~Jason

This question may be apt to elicit Flames of Ultimate Betrayal from the Monotone Is Kooler camp, buuuut...My Vibe is a monotone, since it was the only one available in the area with the features I sought (Satellite [color, not radio] AWD, Moon/Tunes, Power). She's a lovely, make no mistake! However, I am personally partial to the cladding. What would be involved in retrofitting the cladding to a monotone Vibe? Is it even possible/feasible? Might anyone be able to ball-park the cost? Would there be any adverse impact of such a retrofit to the weather-proof-ness (when in doubt, use hyphens!) of the vehicle? Thanks for any input.

Geez, it's too bad you don't have salsa, I would trade for the monotone look right now!

Yah. Not so much sanguine with the trading; I've grown quite attached to the lovely lass (I call her Leela).Really just exploring the possibility of fitting her with the cladding. If not possible, I'm still amply happy with her, and inclined to be loyal. However, if it is feasible, it's something I would seriously consider.Cheers;'Cyte.

I happen to love my Two-tone personally. They aren't going to sell two tone 2005 Vibes until November so you will be seeing a lot more monotones on the road soon.

I'm with Joat and Zamboni....to me it depends on the color. Coming from sort of a "fashion" background, I think the lighter colors look better in two-tone--I like the look of light-on-top-dark-on-bottom. I'm not as big a fan of the dark-on-top-lighter-on-bottom look. But again, that's just my opinion. If we didn't have these different opinions we'd all be driving the same style same color car, and what fun would THAT be??!
