I buy from Wal Marx or use my friends employee discount at Quality tires. Either way, I get a good deal!

let me add a new vendor that I just purchased a wheel + tire package fromhttp://www.performanceplustire.com/ (aka Hot Rod Hank's) Long Beach CA. They have an excellent selection of wheels and tires and good prices -- free mounting. Also free shipping but (a) they do nick you for boxing materials ($30 total) -- fair enough -- and (b) their free shipping is with FEDEX ground and they require signature for delivery (to avoid fraud I guess). That can be a bit of a pain as FEDEX ground is NOT Federal Expresss and won't drop off in their terminals, so someone really does have to be home to receive those things. But I paid $800 delivered for a 17" Velocity rimset and Hankook summer tires. Went with these guys because they are among the few who carry Velocity. For service or warranty issues you are probably on your own....

I've worked it out that over the last 4 years I've bought 14 sets of tires. Never paid over $100 a tire (97.00 for 235/45r17 nittos)Never paid for stems, mounting, balancing, all that.Being a tire guy has it's advantages.And I have an interest free (as long as I pay regularly) staff account so I don't even need to worry about what they cost in the first place.

I have personally become disenchanted w/Discount Tire, but used to be a staunch supporter... at least for tires. I never thought their wheel selection was that great nor their prices on wheels. They have seriously pulled back on service. Their inventory seems weak, locally at least, unless shopping specifically for Michelin's. When I went in for the Conti's that are now on Wendy's Vibe, they were more expensive, out-of-stock, could not give me an estimate of when they might get them in and the guy was REALLY pushing the Michelins even after I told him several times I didn't think I had to spend $150+ ea. for a good set of tires.At the time I was also looking into the Kumho LX Platinum's which were also OOS. They couldn't tell me anything about them that I hadn't already read about. In fact, they seemed to know LESS about them that I did!! Two of them just kept trying to talk me into the Michelins. I know they are good tires, but don't take to kindly to the hard-sell technique. I walked out w/a bad taste in my mouth. It seemed to me that all this hard-sell was coming from their corporate offices, not from the guys working at the store.

Here's a solid vote for Discount Tire Direct. Just got 2 sets of tires there for a great price -- $61 a tire for a set of Yoko Ice Guards for my wife's Vibe (her Valentine Day present.....had one with a bow waiting for her in bed) and a set of Yoko truck tires (Geolandar ATs) for our F150 woodhauler for $80 (all prices post-rebate). Good service and quick delivery as well as great prices. Their warehouse is in Columbus so it was like 2 days. Knowledgable staff. Would do again.The way to a woman's heart is through her traction....we continue to rack up more snow. About 5 inches more and this year sets a recent (last 30 years) record, breaking 1996

I could have told you that the Kumho Ecsta Platinum LXs are the most silent tires I have ever driven on. I keep them at 40psi front and 37-38psi rear and they still ride comfortably. They also have the dumbest name, ever.These tires track very well, are great in the wet, but their snow performance is marginal (as all the all season tires are). I never intended to use them in snow, but did keep them on the first winter that I had the car and never left the driveway, unless the roads were clear (you see them on my signature picture and they're 225/50 17) I have a set of Blizzacks for the slippery stuff. Our snow is almost all gone and temperatures have been above normal since February. I'm thinking of switching to the Summer tires this weekend. As a matter of fact, when I got home from work yesterday, I washed the grime off the Vibe and sprayed out what looked like a ton of sand and mud from underneath. Dried it, stuck it in the garage and even dressed the snow tire sidewalls! I'm itching for even warmer weather... but on Monday I'm going skiing again, if the weather cooperates. Snow in the mountains is deep and near perfect.

Geez, buying tires shouldn't be this hard.I need to get new tires for my Civic and it appears the best prices are either at America's Tire or Sears - as long as you go online. At Sears the minute you talk to someone at the store or on their 800 number the price per tire jumps up a crazy amount. So, if you try to order online you find that you can't order that tire that is on the frickin' website. There's nothing to "click" on and the picture of the tire you want just sits there staring you in the face (and laughing under its breath, I suspect). So, I go to a different tire, one that says it is available for local pick up. You click on that tire but then none of the local stores has it in stock and again there is nothing to "click" on to order it or get it shipped - it just says it isn't available.So, I go to America's tire online and click on the "found it cheaper" button. They guy calls me up and says we can definitely match that price for tire ($66.50 at Sears for the Potenza G016 "Grid" tire - where America's Tire has it for $77 or something) but then they apparently throw out their normal $15/tire mount and balance and the $2/tire disposal fee and they say that Sears charges thus and so for mount/balance/disposal/etc. so they knock just a measly $10 bucks off the online price for a set of four out the door. What a joke.I checked out TireRack.com and TireSavings.com but they charge shipping of $60 and $90 respectively so there go any savings out the window. If I can't get a better deal anywhere I'm going to try and call America's Tire back and see if they'll come down another $20-23 to approximate their on-line cost for the labor, etc. plus the match on the Sears tires.

Update: Got the Potenza G019 Grid for $292.64 total at Firestone today.

I vote for http://www.performanceplustire.com. I've bought 3 set already. 2 for my Monte Carlo and just 2 weeks ago got some 18 for my Vibe. Best prices by far for a complete package. Better than tirerack and discount tire. I suggest to come here first to check prices than go to your usual place and will be pleasantly surprised by the deals they have. Also customer service is excellent.

I'm voting for discount tire just because they have a wide amount of options for the vibe and my brother works there so I get his workers discount

I've tried Discount Tires twice. Both times they advertised a tire as in stock only to call me and tell me it's out of stock after I've bought them. I don't use them for that reason.Any time I've used Tire Rack I had tires at my door two days later. Every single time. They may not be the cheapest, but they make up for it in how fast they are at getting me what I bought.

Have not used anyone other than Discount Tire for the past several years. They always seem to come out ahead on price, or they're willing to price match. I love Tirerack's site but their shipping costs always seem to put them over the top.I just ordered wheels+snows off their website, and the local store called when they got the order and offered an additional 10% discount, plus a more expensive wheel they already had in stock at no cost. This was essentially an additional $100 retail value, and maybe they did it because they get a lot more money making a direct sale rather than doing installs from web orders.I have always had hassle-free (and cost-free) flat repairs. The Certificates for Replacement are also second to none - I went to get new tires after one went flat and they had 30K miles, and by having the certificates they basically gave me full credit for the blown tire, PLUS a prorated credit (something like $30-40) for the other tires, off the set of new tires.I don't buty the certificates anymore because they've gotten more expensive, and at the store where I used to live they seemed to be more receptive to discounting those.
