I thaought you might say that.Well, I bought it a while back, but i don't have a garage, and it has been a bit to cold in Kansas City lately to take on a project like that. I am waiting for a warm Saturday. I figure you will probably have yours done before I will

OK, I will give you that. I know I can't do it next weekend cause I will be out in Myrtle beach with my parents. But maybe the weekend before the FL meet I will get it done. Either way, I will let you know, and post some pics. Even if I can't do it well, at least it can give you a heads up.

i got the GM12-AUXv2 from crutchfield and did the install last week. it was really easy. i followed this installhttp://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=24286the only difference, is my 24 pin harness didnt have any slack so i had to cut like an inch of the plastic tubing and used a quick splice to cut into the powerquick splice, i picked up a pack at A & A, but heres a link to one if you dont know what they are (i didnt but my dad did)http://www.gspike.com/eshoppro...E.htm

*BUMP* I GOT IT IN TODAY!!!! It game in the mail today. The wife was mad cause I didn't tell her I had bought it, and she thought it was some conroller extention cables for the Playstation..... when she opened it... well... she was less than pleased (she can't figure out why I spent $60 on something that does the same thing my FM mod does... ). I am going to TRY and install it this week (with pics).... but I am going to Myrtle to see my parents, so I probably son't get to until sometime next week. Wish me luck......

I installed it today. WOW was it easy, I almost feel bad for not doing it sooner. Total time was a little over half an hour, and that is only casue I ran inside twice to find a MP3 player. To tell you how easy it was, I did it at work on lunch and still had time to run out to BK and get something to eat. I took some pics and will post them tonight. I also haven't had time to really test it, so after the ride home tonight I will let you know how it sounds. But if you have one, just go put it in.

Great! You will have to let us know how it sounds as well. A lot of people have installed the PAC devices, but I have not heard to much about the PIE.

So now I have it all, AM/FM and a 6 disc changer, and on my VSM, I have it where I can interchange my XM Skyfi2, my Sirrus Stratus, or either of my iPods. THIS is what I wanted to be able to do!!

I installed the Peripherals iPod2Car yesterday and thought I'd chime in on the install and on its performance. It seems like most of the people on here are opting for the Aux2Car or something similar, but I've got an old iPod that doesn't keep it's charge for very long and didn't want to have to run another cable for power.Install:I bought the iPod2Car off ebay for $43+$15 s&h. The prices on there fluctuate between $25 and about $60. I also got the wiring harness off ebay for about $8. Using the pointers in this forum, the install went smoothly with one exception: the 12v wires were too thick for the Radio Shack splicer that was linked to earlier. I ended up doing a messy job of it with an exacto knife and electrical tape. I'll have to go back in and clean it up later. I found this http://www.radioshack.com/prod...mmaryon radio shack that might do the job better. (Edit: The Quick Splice that coldmm linked to up above looks like it will work too. My wires were around 14 gage, so anything that can handle that will work.)Performance:The volume, Previous/Next, FF, and RW buttons on the stereo all work to control the iPod. The FF and RW buttons gave me mixed results though, as sometimes I wasn't able to get it to go back to playing. If I plug in the iPod before turning on the stereo, the on button works to pause or to play the iPod.Concerns:-There is a faint buzz that I only hear when I accelerate. I'm assuming this is associated to how I grounded it (I just grounded it to one of the stereo mounts) and will go back in and try grounding it to the 24 pin ground to see if that fixes it. -The iPod charges even when the car is turned off. I had thought that since the radio turns off when the car turns off, and since I'm tapping into the same power, that power would be cut to the iPod as well. I guess the "Constant 12v" really is constant. I'm a bit worried that I could drain the car battery if I forget to unplug my iPod when not in use. Is that a valid concern, or does the iPod not draw enough to drain the car battery?

I just have a few more questions. 1) Does it specify to tap into the power of the 24 pin harness of the factory radio or is that just what people are doing?2) So all I'll need is a Sirius Sportster (or other model) and the AUX2CAR and I'll have CD quality?3) My local electronic store has a Peripherals AUX2CAR that sells for $30 CDN. I'm wondering if it's the same since the one that links have been given to is close to $90 US. The one I was looking at is in a white box and they have different ones depending on the make of car. It looks like the same kind of setup.

I'm a little confused by this. I have a 2003 Vibe with M&T (A3), which is not listed for any of the adapters listed. Does that mean I'm SOL for hardwiring unless I open up my changer and start soldering?

burgerearl / NUBlackshirts-There are not any adapters for the 6-CD I think someone claimed to be able to use the AUX2CAR in XM mode with a 6-CD for a later model year, but be aware it may not work if you try it.WaveAction -You only have to get to the back of the radio to install it, then bring out a cable to connect your MP3 player somewhere convenient. For example, I had an AUX2CAR, which comes with a short adapter cable with 2 female RCA connectors (left/right). I got a long 1/8" stereo plug to dual RCA male cable from Radio Shack, and ran the stereo plug end to the little compartment-bin under the shifter. That way, I could keep the cable out sight in the bin when not using it, and then open it up and pull out the cable to connect to my MP3 player. When I stopped somewhere, I could also put the MP3 player in the bin to keep it out of sight.(Now that I put in a CD changer I had to use something different for theAUX adapter, but I still have it run into the bin below the shifter.)

I got the GM12-AUXv2 from Crutchfield and installed it last night with the help of my dad and his neighbor. Everything went pretty easily, especially after we got past a few ignorance related issues. We made the run to Radio Shack for the tap for the power. Had everything installed how we thought it should be and it didn't work. Luckily our neighbor was around and noticed that I had attached the ground wire to a screw that wasn't actually grounded, so after a little trial and error, we got it grounded and the component working. I'm sure this is a mistake most folks wouldn't make, but just in case someone has the same problem I did and also didn't consider the ground wire as the possibility, I wanted to post about my install. I know folks here spliced into the radio's ground wire. We ended up just attaching the ground wire to the outside casing of the radio (since we knew it was grounded) and all worked well.

Just to forewarn any 2003 Moon & Tunes Vibe owners considering the PIE GM12-AUXV2 adapter, it isn't necessarily confirmed to be working at this point. The installation instructions are simple and I followed them exactly to no avail. I'll update here if/when we figure out what the issue is. got it, installed it, it works!a few hints i figured out during the installation:1. when removing the framing around the head unit, you can disconnect all the back 'connectors' except for the 'wire' which goes to the bottom 'unused' button on the left side. This allows you to minimize disconnections and also serves to hold the framing as it hangs down (putting the shifter through the hole where your head unit usually fits).2. i used the t-splice for the power but it was a little tight getting just the blue/white stripe power wire separated from the bundle. SO i attached the ground wire to the head unit chassis. hint: attach it to the side closest to the steering wheel so that you can rotate the AUX2CAR so that the wire going to your MP3 is pointed toward the glove box...see below as to why.3. make sure all the disconnected connectors are accounted for BEFORE remounting the head unit and putting in the screws...the 3 top connectors really like to slide back into the dash and disappear behind the head unit.4. when running the ground wire to the side of the head unit, make sure you run it so it is inside the dash (partially insert the head unit before running the wire...otherwise you won't be able to reattach the framing as the wire will be in the way! )5. you don't have to remove the fan control fascia or knobs, nor the framing around the shifter if you want to run the wire from the AUX2CAR to the compartment below the shifter. An easier approach is to remove the glove box (VERY easy to do). Then stick your arm into the open area and pull the wire down and direct it toward the passenger footwell. Once there push the wire behind the centre console plastic toward the bottom centre compartment. Remove that compartment so that you have access to the small holes where you will be able to reach the end of the wire and pull it out. It took me about 3 minutes to do all this and all I had to do was remove the glovebox!Sorry, i didn't take any pics as my wife has the camera this weekend on a trip. If any of my hints are unclear (as i'm sure they are) just PM me or post on this thread and i'll do my best to explain further!PS: i prefer flipping the #6 DIP to "on" for the louder sound....

Am I correct then in assuming that the 2007 Vibe base radio (D1) is the same radio that is installed in the 2006? I haven't found anything on the 2007 yet and would like to put in an AUX cable in right away. Would the Peripherals AUX2CAR (PXGM24, PXGM12) work with the 2007 D1 radio? (Canadian edition if that makes any difference)

Hi all, okay I have scoured the forums, and this has probably been beat to death by now, but is there any simple way to get the 2003 with 6 CD Disc Changer (moon and tunes) without NAV (option A3 above) to have a functional Aux?Else, I'm just gonna have to cut into the wires and solder a physical tap into the output and another switch to kill the actual CD line.thanks

I have a 2003 w/ moon and tunes, but without the CD changer. I finally just bought the Audiovox inline FM modulator. It really sounds ok. I was surprised at how good it sounds. I would have much ratther installed an Aux 2 Car, or PIE device, but they just would not work. It is not the best, but I don't think it is a bad option. By the way i have an extra PIE GM12 v2 if anyone is interested in it.

Hi Everyone,I've been pulling hair trying to figure out the best way to use an iPod with custom controls, etc AND be able to use a regular auxiliary input. Didn't want to leave a hole in my double din dash with an after market single din, and I haven't been impressed with any of the double dins (especially the poor interfaces).A second concern was theft in downtown Atlanta, so I think modifying the factory HU is the best approach. All that said, I found this wonder, the PIE GM12-POD/S iPod and Auxilary Input Adapter. It claims it can display all your iPod info on your factory HU and be able to go scroll through things like playlist, artist, genre, etc. Granted, you have to memorize some somewhat tricky button moves, but overall it's the best thing I've seen. In addition, you can switch control back to the iPod (scroll wheel etc) or switch to any other aux device (friends mp3 who don't do iPod).http://www.discountcarstereo.c...=1092The problem is, it doesn't say it works on the Pontiac Vibe on this website. However, on this site it does:http://www.autotoys.com/x/prod...10214On the manufacturer's site it doesn't specifically specify.I have a "(B2) 2004 single CD (w/ BAND button and CD/AUX button) and Moon & Tunes" so I know the PIE GM12-AUX should work.I guess what I'm asking is does anyone have experience with this adapter, or know more about what makes these things compatible with GM head units?? (Class II, no LAN, etc...)Thanks!

Hello all, sorry for my complete and utter lack of knowledge but I'm going ahead with my iPod integration because I can wait no longer. MyVibe: 2006 w/ single cd and the 7-speaker audio system (integrated subwoofer).1. I guess I fall under the [D3] category in GMJAP's post at the beginning of the thread. I wasn't aware I had a CD MP3. How do I determine if I truly do.2. In the past I'd contacted Pac-Audio.com about this as well and the told to use the PAC AUX-BOX as well as a GM wiring harness but I'm curious as to whether I can just hook in to the PAC AUX-BOX with just a simple 2 plugged male RCA cord--> headphone jack plug?Once again, my apologies but thanks for any help.

We just installed the Peripheral PXDX Aux2Car in our 2005 Vibe (base) with Moons & Tunes. The installation was pretty easy, ran the stereo plug down into the storage compartment under the shifter. To save you some time, here are the resources required if you happen to be doing the same job:DIP switch settings (1,3,8 on):http://peripheralelectronics.c...t.pdfSample product page:http://www.discountcarstereo.c...D=749You must also order the harness with part number PXHGM3 from the drop down menu at the above vender, some venders may sell it separately. We also activated dip switch #6, turning on the internal amplifier to boost the line level output to something the stock radio can work with. I know that some people experience a little extra noise, but I couldn't really tell the difference when playing an MP3 player through the stock radio and speakers.

I might be missing something here. I have a 2005 Vibe with what is described on this thread as the C2 stereo...the CD player has died, but everything else works.I was thinking about adding an aux to it instead of replacing so I can use my iPod (which I would have liked to do anyway). My other option, being replacement obviously...I do have one question about this though. Can it be the next generation stereo found in the 2009s? Will it fit or even work? Thanks all!Sam

Hers has a PAC AuxBox (just standard 1/8" miniplug/headphone style jack). Mine has a PAC AuxPod (iPod connector). Both work nearly perfectly. On the 2007, there's a bit of electronic background noise every once in a while that can be heard through the speakers, but I believe that's the fault of the AuxBox, as the same sound was heard in her previous Saturn when I used the same adapter box (I think). Of course, since it's just a miniplug, there's no charging or control of the iPod that's connected, but it will work with anything that has a minijack (so basically everything with a headphone jack). On my 2008, the AuxPod works fairly well. The only caveats are that it provides 12V power, which on older iPods is fine, but some newer iPod/iPhone models it won't power the device. The iPod nano 4th gen, the iPhone 3G and the iPod touch 2nd gen all use 5V only charging, so they will play through the AuxPod, but won't charge while on it. A Scosche PassPORT can solve that issue. All other iPod models with a dock connector (Classics, 3rd through 5th gen iPods, iPod touch 1st gen, 1st gen iPhone, 1st through 3rd gen iPod nanos) will work fine with the 12V power it supplies. One other slight weirdness I have with the AuxPod is that it won't pause the iPod when I shut the car off. When I had this same adapter installed in my '98 Regal GS, it would pause when the car was shut off, and resume when I hit play. The Vibe doesn't for some reason. However, all I have to do is turn off the radio before I shut off the car, and turn it back on once I restart the car, and it'll pause/play as it should. From my research over the past few years, the AuxPod, Neo iOn, and iPod2car are all the exact same device, so you may have the same results with each.
