it's become my own personal 'stock market' strategy...fill low..buy only $15 worth now with speculation of it going lower...if i NEED to fill and price is higher than i like, only put in $10...etc.i pass at least a half dozen gas stations between work and home everyday so it's easy to 'play the game'.But in the long run...46L tank (?) figure on 40L as you'll never let it run dry. at 90cents that's $36 at $1.00 that's $40 ....so $4 extra that week (tank lasts me a week, easy).I could EASILY not go out for lunch one day and save that amount as lunches average $6.So it isn't too bad. But when you look at the charts posted in this thread, it really adds up when you look at prices from a few years ago. But that can be said for electricity and natural gas and bread and milk and...you get the picture. As i tell my wife, the ONLY thing we can do about it is be a little more responsible in how much we use. So don't get depressed about it, just think a little before wasting fuel for no reason...but that could be the 'non-complaining canadian' in me!

Location: San Diego, CA (Coronado Island)Station: Gas station on baseBrand: Not sure!Price: $2.69 galGallons: 11Grade: 87 regular unleadedTotal Price: $29.59That's not so bad considering it's not brand name and it's on base which tends to be cheaper than off base. I drove by a Shell station a couple of days ago and they were at $3.00 a gallon! I think it's a sign that I need to stay home more.

Couldn't have been an H2, those only have 32 gallon tanks. H1, definitely. 53 Gallon capacity..More than likely..it might've been something like an Excursion.. 44gal capacity..I can't wait for my drive up to NJ for two weeks around labor day.. I gotta refill every other day since i'll be commuiting from central(ish) NJ to Long Island every day.. so let's see..i'll probably be around $33 / $40 per fill before long..Anyone else miss the days when $17 seemed like a lot to fill the tank?

I remember the day I got my liscense I posted on here. I can't find the thread but I said it took like $15 to fill up the tank and then someone replied by saying "becareful gas prices are starting to rise, they are already over $1.65" or something along those lines.I paid $2.74 for midgrade today. I could only afford to put $7 in cash and $1 in quarters into it It's reached the point now where gas is so expensive it's not even worth driving around to find the cheaper station. I don't even care anymore.

Sat 8-13-05 filled up 2.439; Sun 8-14-05 2.399 same Shell station; Today 8-17-05 2.699. Through 8-31-05 Discover Card is giving you a 5% rebate; my new Citi-MCard gives 5% rebate on gas, supermarket & drugstore purchases - max $300/year. I spend about $6,000 a year at those establishments so I won't exceed the maximum.

Yesterday I put $30 worth of gas in and it took it to 3/4 full. I've never seen that before. $40 would have filled it. It used to be that $20 would fill it usually. I paid 99.5 cents/litre I think it was. I don't get gas all that often - maybe once a month, so while I don't like the high gas prices, it doesn't bother me all that much. I'd be much more annoyed if I was getting it every week.

If it were just the gasoline - wouldn't be too bad. But there is an "energy component" in virtually everything we buy or use. Take milk, for example. The dairy farmer uses energy at the farm, the trucks use energy to get the milk to the processing plant, the processing plant uses energy to process and package the milk, the milk has to get to the store, and the stores uses energy to keep it cool, light the store, run the cash registers. Energy is perhaps the most ubiquitous component in everything we consume. Wonder how much of the price of a Vibe is "energy" used in making/transporting it and its components. We didn't heed the warning shot we got in 1973, and looking at the recently passed energy bill our "leaders" are not heeding even today's warnings. We were so stupid that we used up our Alaskan oil ostensibly to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. That just put off the inevitable. Now we are paying 4 times as much for that foreign oil that we could have used in place of our own reserves. The naysayers have all but brought new nuclear power generation to a halt. I remember 30 years ago seeing a bumper sticker that said "Nuclear power - safer than Ted Kennedy's car."

yup lookie at what the bush commision has done to help keep the prices down, ha ha right like they would do that they're making money off of our dependance on oil. i paid 2.63 a gallon today.
