I occasionally get a rattle from the B pillar trim, what did you do to possibly fix it?

cptnsolo77 wrote:I occasionally get a rattle from the B pillar trim, what did you do to possibly fix it?
I pulled it away from the metal (not off, since the seatbelt thing is there) and put some adhesive foam weather stripping along the crevices, and stuffed some in areas to try and make it fit on there tighter. I've done the same thing in other areas of the car with good results. I try to decrease tolerances with it to make it work. However, I'd be careful in removing the trim, as the tip pin that holds it to the car is molded into the tan trim, and is a high nylon content plastic, so it'll flex and become useless, a lesson I learned while doing this. I made it work. I also added some of the weather stripping to where the black piece clips to the tan piece. So far so good!

I'll have to fix my driver-side tweeter the same way I fixed the passenger-side one. For the past few weeks I've been working on only four speakers!

The last few days I've gotten a bunch of stuff done on the car:
1. Replaced the missing driver's side fender liner, washed and waxed.
2. Plasti-dipped the stock rims.
3. Painted the calipers with ceramic caliper paint.
4. Also Plasti-dipped my winter wheels.
5. Took some pics of the Toyota Matrix bumper cover for tpollauf (car not clean yet)

Lots of fun all around!

The wheels and calipers look great! How many coats of PlastiDip did you use and did you use any of the glossifier? You've got me seriously considering PlastiDipping our wheels and I hate to admit it, but you also have me kind of considering re-painting our calipers red :|.

I just ordered the factory GM Chrome exhaust tip for 03-08 Vibes. The seller was listed as having 9 available, and they were priced at 30$. Of course, to Canada there was an additional 30$ for shipping.. Anyway, if anyone else is looking for the tip, open up ebay and enter #12497926 in the search bar. There were only two sellers with these parts for sale.

Lets see...I had to remove some glazing front both front rotors, I was getting serious noise from them. Almost sounded like I was down to the rivets on the brake pads...like metal to metal :o . All done & back to normal  Also got the front & rear seats shampooed at a local detail shop for 30 bucks. The Vibe REALLY needed it. Now I need some factory floor mats ( which I love ) to top it off....

I, too, have done some plasti-dipping. More will come in the future, and it will hopefully be more even than this.

Crossed over an odd milestone

And installed my DC header. I like the noise it gives, and so far power is GOOD. 8-)

Replaced the cabin air filter for the first time in my '09 this weekend. It was nasty! I'm going to start checking it more often.

And looking at these pics makes me think I'm coming down with a case of PlastiDipitus too!

I got to check the oil in the 10 GT today, got to drive it to work, and put $20 of gas in it. Then my daughter drove it back to school again. :( Two more weeks and then the summer session is out, and the GT gets to come back home. :D Oh yeah, and then my daughter will be home for a few days too until the fall semester begins!

Picked up some DupliColor black bumper paint & sprayed the black trim at the base of the windshield. Was very sun faded & looks way better now. No more Mothers back to black. This is a more "permanant" fix. I will do the passenger side next weekend.

Wow, they're twins to a high degree. I'm liking the Voltz badges, too. And I need a plate frame like that.

I took my Vibe in for recall 13030. The interior panel that covers the HVAC controls was removed before I took it in (fearing the worst). I test drove two cars (Sonic RS and Cruze 2LT), then got my Vibe back and headed home. There I realized the front console base was slightly cracked on the passenger side. Called them, and he said to bring it in and they'll order up a replacement. I'm VERY happy with that service.

I peeled the PlastiDip off the fronts of the wheels today. It took about half an hour. It came off very easily. Tomorrow I am going to remove the wheels so I can peel it off the backsides.

I'm liking the look of those Voltz badges, Barber. Especially the front one. How hard was it to swap out the badges?

As for me, tip came in today.. Looks great and it has a nice feel to it, but I can't put it on because we're having rain and thunder :( It'll have to wait until sometime this weekend.

Edit: Real men wrench in the rain. Lol.

Front V was easy-ish..but Pontiac badge gets destroyed.

I love the GM tip, but I find it sticks out too far on a stock exhaust....I had my custom exhaust reuse it, but more recessed

Mine slid on effortlessly, and I've got the end of the stock tip lined up with the inside of the new one pretty well. It does stick out a wee bit too much in my opinion, but I still love it and think it's a great addition. It managed to scratch the mod itch a little bit for now, until I decide to do more. Next I'd like to black out my roof rack with vinyl, tint my windows and fix a few rust spots along the top of the windshield. I've got some rust starting along the same spot as yours did, barber. not sure I can pull off the black strip though because my hood isn't black...

I'd do the roof regardless of the hood colour...or do the hood, too ;)

The rubberized rocker guard stuff works great on roof racks, too. I did that on the black vibe I had...less worries about scratching it (unlike vinyl)

I removed the PlastiDip from the backsides of the wheels. I did the driver's side wheels last night and the other two this morning. Removing it from the backsides took quite a bit longer than the fronts, but it was worth it. I'm glad to have the original shine back on my Vibe !

You need to pop the caps at the front and rear of each rack and then there are two allen-keyed nuts at each end
The caps along the center have 3 of those GM/Toyota clips that'll likely break...it might be worth buying a pack on eBay prior to pulling them off.

I pulled mine off and broke one clip on 1 endcap and all the clips on the long plastic caps. The holes in the roof under the long ones (under the rails) I covered with black duct tape...I was able to get/find 1 replacement clip for the end cap. If its easier you can text me at five one nine 4nine8 seventyeight seventytwo

My daughter brought the GT home! But she did have an adventure the past few days. I got a text message with the following picture asking if this is the tire pressure.
Image

I had to plug a couple of the tires due to screws close to the edge of the tire as the Firestone would not patch them, so she has been checking the pressure quite often. She found the problem though.
Image

This nail is in a THIRD tire! She asked if she could drive to the school library and back on it to study. Uh, no, check the pressure first. Well she had already driven on it earlier in the day. Tire pressure was 4.5 psi. So she tried to change the tire, and was not able to break the lug nuts loose. :D At least she tried! Her boyfriend was visiting on his way back to school so he changed the tire for her. So now I have to buy new tires! On virtually no money! Fun!

Try plugging the tire. I never plugged my tires until recently, when I had no dough. Drove 2 tires with them until I hit the wear bars & no probs. Picked up the Slime brand kit in walmart & i keep it in the car. Just make sure you get the plugs that dont require glue. They are self vulcanizing.

I did plug the rear two tires that got screws in them last spring, and I planned to plug this one too and see how it does, but the tread was already down to the center wear indicators on both front tires. The rears still have some tread left, so I got two new Hankook Ventus HR tires. Had to go with 225/40/18s instead of the 235/40/18s I had since the price was about $50 each more expensive, and they had them in stock. Oh well, we got out for $247 total drive out with road hazard and everything.

Thanks for the info Barber, I'll give it a shot next time I'm visiting home. I actually have a bag of those clips from the time I fixed a sagging piece of door cladding, with many clips left over. That being said the rest doesn't sound too bad, should be a good way to occupy an afternoon.

Busy weekend for the Vibes. Last night I washed mine (first time since right before the Pontiac meet :|). This morning I detailed the interior of my mom's Vibe and than washed it (first time in probably a month :|). This afternoon I played musical intakes - my Vibe was running weird, so back on July 4th weekend, I had put the stock intake back on it. After a few weeks with no issues, I put the intake from my mom's Vibe on my Vibe and put the stock intake on my mom's Vibe. Now finally today, after a couple weeks with no issues using my mom's intake, I put my intake back on my Vibe and put my mom's intake back on her Vibe. I am thinking I may have not had something tightened down enough, but we will see how it does over the next couple weeks *fingers crossed*.

Today I exchanged loving glances with a couple in a silver Lexus CT 200h. They were next to me at a stoplight and I was staring at their Lexus and they were staring at my Vibe ! I ended up seeing them again a few minutes later and the guy (who was in the passenger seat) was totally turning around and checking out my Vibe as they were passing by me :D! I never get that kind of love from Vibe owners :|.

It was a good weekend for the old girl.

She got some fresh Valvoline Nextgen 5W-30 and a PureOne yesterday.

Today, washed and waxed. The car still looks great, provided you don't look at the cladding, hood, front bumper, or roof. The hood is full of chip, the bumper has bugs permanently etched into the clearcoat, and the clearcoat is coming off the roof. I'll try to keep her looking good as long as I can but it isn't going to be easy. One day when I get rich, I'll post in this thread "dropped it off at the body shop for a repaint and cladding replacement!"

Tomorrow the Sonic stays home and I'll take her to work with me. 8-)

Cleaned and detailed for the first time in about a month and a half. Also, my passenger front caliper was sticking, causing my wheel to vibrate at highway speeds. Rotor was badly worn because of this. Total repair cost for caliper, pads and rotors: $426. Ouch. Brakes like a dream now, though.
