We are both 64 years young. 2008 Vibe with Manual Tranny- traded in a 2004 with automatic. Kind of old fashioned- we both prefer a standard= better gas mileage and fewer costs down the road if you plan to keep the vehicle for a long time. Sometimes we hand down the vehicles to the kids- my son just got rid of my old 97 Prizm- 230000 miles and a standard transmission. An automatic never ever would last that long. Also we get a couple miles better mileage to the gallon. Went for the 08 versus the o9 so we could reuse the snow tires and also the bike rack from the 04 fits the 08. 09's don't come with roof racks.

I saw a Neptune (maybe 05/06) on the road the other day. Caught my attention because it had a really sweet tail pipe. Came up beside her and...the lady driving must have been 80! I laughed pretty hard.

I'll pull some stats for you tomorrow at work about "the average vibe owner." The problem with the poll is that most of people jumping around on blogs is a bit of a younger crowd so you are leaving out the majority of your best sample... I'll get some different time slots from retail sales figures over the years, it should be fun to see what I find.oh yeah... i'm 23

Another funky bit of data that shows a car, da Vibe, designed for the younger set, and yet, picked up by the older set in greater numbers. Weird how us oldsters gravitate to these efficient little carryalls.

"You can sell a young man's car to an old man, but you cannot sell an old man's car to a young man." -Bunkie Knudsen of Pontiac, circa 1956.(66 and counting, with dual stainless megs on my '03...)

Hey, it's great to be remembered! The 275/40 x 17" Flintstones are wearing like granite (!), but starting to show a few cracks at ~ 60,000 km. Just put them back on yesterday. Lost one of the 'floater' wheel centers though, have to get another built...

As far as I'm concerned, it's truly a great looking Vibe with those wheels and tires. Maybe one of the best. Good to hear the tires are showing little wear. Those surface cracks in the rubber shouldn't be a problem for a while. I have an old set of summer Bridgestones, that have been on the car since 2001 and they are doing the same cracking thing for the last 5 years. We have to get the car inspected here in Maine, so I do that while the snow tires are on, and then switch them out. Inspection failed with the summers 5 years ago, so I switched over to the snows and I got the stamp of approval! The floating caps you pictured way back when, were the prototypes, you should post a new set of pictures with the final editions on. Keep up the good work... and visit us here on genvibe more often.
