I tried to make it until after big oil was finished profiting on holiday travels but the little Sonic just couldn't do it. $2.90/gallon today for 93 octane at Meijer after mperk discount ($3.05 before.)
Before the holidays, I filled up the Vibe with 87 octane at Costco for $2.55.

Thanks to some sort of fuel spill at the BP refinery in Whiting, IN earlier this week, gas shot up to $2.99 in less than 24 hours

We got smacked by the Whiting refinery outage as well -- the speculators must have kicked into action as soon as they heard of the problems up there. 87 went from $2.30-$2.40-ish to $2.99 within hours.
Filled the VIbe up today - $2.799 for Sunoco 87 octane. And got 36.4 MPG - very pleased with that.

$2.49 at my favorite Speedway station! I've lucked out and did NOT have to fill up during the $2.90 spike last week. It will continue to drop for another week or so before the next jump.

Anyway, cheapest I've seen it anywhere.

I went to fill my mom's Vibe up yesterday morning at the usual Citgo we go to in the next town over (Somonauk). Gas was $2.35, so I didn't stop because I knew the Citgo in Sandwich had been $2.29 the night before, so I headed back to Sandwich. I pulled up to the pumps and sure enough, gas was still $2.29, but all the regular (87 octane) pumps were out of service

. I met a friend for breakfast, than headed back to the Citgo in Somonauk. Last night, my parents and I took my Vibe to Morris, IL for a cruise night. Gas at the Citgo down there was $2.25, so I stopped and filled my Vibe up on our way back home since it was right around a quarter of a tank.
