PCM installed today.... as were my tires balanced, and rotors turned... started to get some jitters... The car is "behaving" so far, and I will keep my fingers crossed, I have noticed however, that the warm start time has decreased overall, that doesn't mean it won't have an episode, I hope for the best, and will keep posted.

New PCM installed and so far, no starting issue. Also, car seems to have a LOT more power, especially at lower RPMs.

Still behaving, notably different start times/ engine catch, still crossing fingers though.

Is your overall performance ok? How is the miles per gallon?

Has started everytime so far, and definately faster. My car always gave me trouble in very hot/humid weather, and this week has been very atypical.. cold/wet, I won't be completely convinced until it does it's good a week or so. Performance didn't change in mine, just a noticable change in starting behavior. Sorry, I don't keep track of MPG...

I think my MPG has gone down since my PCM was replaced... will know for sure after a few more tanks.

I have had mine for about a week also. Things seem ok, but the MPG has decreased from 30MPG to about 27MPG. I will definety bring that up to them when they call.I have noticed when I start mine up it revs up real quick then slows down. I am not sure if this is normal.

I notice the rev too, however, my car always does that when cold, and never did w/ hot starts, and when it was difficult to start it would flutter at a less than normal rpm for a couple seconds. For the record though, I have a few 05' Corolla's around, none with the starting issue, and all do the little rev when hot.CH

My PCM went in Friday, and so far, car is running a lot better. Mileage seems to have gone up from 30 ave to 31. Just filled the car today and will report back on the 1st full tank since the PCM replacement.

Well, on this tank my mileage went down to 26mpg from 28mpg that I usually get.

Mine definately starts better, and I haven't experienced the drop in MPG that others have. My only comment is that no one from Pontiac has bothered to make contact with me since the initial phone call. It would've been nice, and would have gone a long way in making me feel like a valued customer of Pontiac, if someone in Detroit had made a follow-up call.

i definately need to get this done soon... when i go to the dealer what would i specifically tell them or say to them about the hot start??? and if they give me crap what else can i say?thanks guys... glad you got em fixed now.

I would tell them to look into cases that it wasn't fixed with first PCM replacement. I believe it should be documented, some sort of PCM revision. Not positive though, worst case scenario is calling into the executive office and finding out who can get the correct part ordered and sent to your dealer.CH

Quote, originally posted by Toasted7 »I'm down to 26mpg now with the replacement of the PCM... lost about 2-3mpg now how do you drive the car? are you a hard driver? I ask this because I may have this problem, not nearly as bad as some, but I'm not willing to give up 2-3 mpg for something that happens less than once a week and the longest I've had to crank is about 7-8 seconds...most are less than 3. Most of my trips are one way, 30 miles, all freeway, then the car sits for 8 hrs and then back home again.

I guess I'm a hard driver overall... the loss in mpg was just something I noticed in my first few tanks, but I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens. I'll be sure to keep you posted.

Had an "intermittent" hot start problem with my 05 2 WD/Auto after about 1K miles. Original dealer had no clue. Went to another dealer and he told me about the bulletin on the PCM.After getting a replacement PCM I've had no issues with warm or hot start & mileage remained in the mid 30s highway.

I have had the same problem off and on, I thought for the longest time that it was because I wasn't cranking it over long enough. But now I know the truth to the problem. I complained to the dealer also and they told me to deal with it. If it doesn't happen for them then there is no problem just like everything else with them.

Umm, yea, so weirdness.... I must say my starting problem is fixed, but now my car smells like rotten eggs-- what gives? I Usually notice it right after getting out of the car after it had been running, or when I start it and it was already hot. I must admit I'll tolerate the smell as it's much better than the no start, but it is definately new, and a result of the other.

I received a call from Josh Farner in the GM Executive Group this morning. He wanted to make sure that the replacement of my PCM has indeed solved the problem. Told him so far, so good.Nice to see that the squeaky wheels do indeed get the grease.

Can you or any body else tell me what the part number of the new pcm is?The local dealer ordered one for me and I want to make sure it is the correct one. The part number should be on your dealer invoice. I have left messages with Josh Farner he doesn't return phone calls. Thanks

i WANT TO THANK ALL OF YOU THAT GOT YOUR PCM REPLACED.IF YOU COULD JUST LOOK AT YOUR SERVICE RECEIPT FOR THE PART NUMBER IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED. I"M SURE IT WON'T TAKE TO LONG AND WOULD REALLY HELP. I DON'T THINK GM IS GOING TO TAKE THE PART OFF OF YOUR CAR IF YOU TELL ME.

call a GM parts department... ask for a PCM for your car. Then ask if it was superseeded by any other number.

FYI for anyone with a 2005 or older Vibe w/ auto trans (non-GT)My2005 Toyota Matrix w/ automatic transmission, has the same problem.- intermittent issue which has no pattern- Occurs when: the engine is warm and is turned off for usually about 20 minutes(sometimes hours or sometimes minutes)- trying to restart the warm engine requires extended crank time and multiple tries- I have no other keys on the key ring- I always turn the key until the beeping stops then crank the engine (does not help)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCa3mYJJRU0File download linkshttp://www.megaupload.com/?d=W8A77KZLhttp://de ... es/1465306

guys i work for GM and i had this same problem, most of the time its a problem witht the PCM it jsut needs to be reprgramed just take it to ur pontiac dealer and they will reprogram it for ya, there is a staight TSB that outlines the problem for a long crank time, especially with the motor hot, there is another one for 2005-2006 that u need to replace the fuel pump

The problem I was having with my dealership is that they said they could not duplicate the problem and were very unwilling to help me at first. It took a letter of complaint to get them to replace the PCM for me. It still has a little difficulty starting, but it does start none the less. You think they will give me difficulty with getting the fuel pump replaced if they can't duplicate the problem because it is still intermittent?
