What false hope? It was meant to be a temporary relief for the 9.2% unemployment rate that now exists (and realistically has for a while) in this country. IMO it was never meant to be a permanent solution to esculating gas/fuel prices. But I agree that the fat cats of modern business in general are not satisfied to be comfortable making as much money this year as they did last, even in a depression when most people are stuggling with continuously higher costs with no increase in salary. BTW: Post 1001. Better than 1000.

$1.119/L here! And to drag myself into this minor political debate:Quote, originally posted by Somewhere I read once »Stop blaming the government and start solving your own problems. Gas is merely a product you CHOOSE to buy. Here's a few other choices you could make: 1)Take the train. 2)Take the bus. 3)Move yourself closer to where you work so you can walk. 4)Get a job that pays better. 5)Downsize your house and cut your morgage. Yes, you've heard all these before. Personally, I chose #4 then #3.

I really didn't mean to make it political, I just meant it as a flip comment. In particular I live in a very rural are where you have to drive for everything. We live where we work, everything is cheap here, but we can only shop for groceries and Knicks knacks here. We re lucky to have a pharmacy and a school where my hubby is employed. We try to be as little house on the prairie as possible and load everyone up for a monthly trip to town to buy supplies... Lol. However, now that all of my online classes are done, I will be traveling 60 miles rt to school so I can get that better paying job. This is why I bought the vibe in the first place, replacing my gas guzzling jeep Cherokee. This is why I love this forum, helping me save money in it already by learning to do things myself, and keep my car in tip top maintennce, on my own. Again, my comment was not to pass blame, I know where the blame lies, I work at a filling station as one of my many jobs, I was merely passing on a little frustration over having been dangled a little hope, only to have it pulled back. Ok enough now on the political and let's get back to gas prices instead, I shouldnt have said any thing...

Envious of other parts of the continent's gas prices. I fueled up at 1.29 a litre on the weekend. $47 for the FIRST fill up in the Vibe. Better than the Monte Carlo we just retired. Would have been about $80.

I'm lucky enough to live near three competing stations, each a block away from the other. An Esso, an Ultramar and a Petro-Canada, right now holding at ¢133.9/L for regular 87, which comes out to... *does metric to imperial calculations* ... maybe I'm not so lucky.

You've been posting cheaper prices than Ontario all year.. and then all of a sudden you're 12 cents higher?!?!..Or is this out in the bush somewhere where it's always higher than in town?In Ottawa it's been $1.20-$1.22/L pretty steadily since August.
