Do any of you know the weekend during which the big Flint car show will be this summer? I guarantee we don't want our Vibe meet to be during that same weekend.

The Flint car show I'm talking about is on the grounds of the Sloan Museum and the International Institute. So far as I know, here in Michigan it's second only to the one on Mackinac Island. Please have your friend check it out.

We're both drawing a blank....the only thing that we can think of is buick's 50th anniversary which was last year, but I don't believe that they're doing anything like that.

LOL! I don't understand your drawing blanks on this, 'cause this car show has been one of Flint's biggest happenings every summer for decades - and it is held exactly where the big Buick show was last summer. I attended that Buick 100th anniversary show and all these others and know what I'm talking about. Sure wish I could think of the official name of that car show. They get about 1,000 cars, give or take a few, every summer and it is always on Saturday and Sunday.

Yea!!! At least one of us knows what's what! Yeah... that's the one. Many thousands of people attend it. I notice that one site said it's only on Sunday. Hogwash! It's both Saturday and Sunday and has ALWAYS been this way. I always go on whichever day looks to have the best weather, but that being even, Saturday is the best day to attend because frequently on Sunday lots of cars leave early. Of course, you can get around that by attending earlier on Sunday. It's always a great show, with car fleamarket, food, radiostation and all. I urge everybody to attend.

Here is a site about Flint car shows to be held this summer. To give credit where credit is due, this is a link from one of the sites SilverAWD26 posted:
http://www.sloanmuseum.com/car_shows.htmlThe only show that would concern us is the "Summer Auto Fair" that will be held June 25-27, 2004.Come here, my friends, for a great time. When is our Michigan Vibe meet scheduled to be?

It's great that you can attend both car shows. These two shows are only about 15-20 miles apart. I noticed that your address is Eagle River Alaska! You gonna drive down?Since this big Flint show is going on at the same time as our Vibe meet, there ain't no "outsiders' gonna show up for the Vibe meet. That don't matter, really, because you folks seem to be just fine. I met lots of you at the Fenton '03 meet and it was great.Come on over and attend both car shows... spend the entire weekend in this area.

I just talked with the sales manager at Joseph Pontiac and they confirmed the date of June 26th for our meet. I will just have to let him know how many we are expecting when the date gets a little closer. He told me that they will be better prepared for us this year.

Oh ya, I can see the dealer being a good place to check out everybodies cars and such, but I imagine on a hot day with no shade...a park to retreat to for more socializing would be great.

maybe like rob suggested, doing part day at the dealership and then maybe a cookout at one of the local parks after.... like around 1 or 2pm.

Rob like always fantastic suggestion!!We can have a "check each others cars out" thingy in the morning and lunch at the park later in the afternoon nice idea I'll sneak in the Italian sausages LOL

Going to a park for a cook out or what-not sounds like a great idea Rob. Finding a park close enough to cook out/socialize might be a problem. I am not sure about any city/county parks around Fenton but as far as someplace like Kensington Metro park (approx 30 min away) which is absolutely beautiful tends to have the shelters book up very quickly, and cost roughly around $100 for the day, not to mention the $5 per car to get in. Across the road is Island Lake State park (mwebb's idea) is also very nice, but since I have never booked a shelter there I am unsure of their availability. Either way if a park like Kensington or Island Lake is going to be used reservations are a very good idea and without them all the shelters fill up very fast on nice summer days. I live in Brighton (close to both parks), so if you want me to check anything out let me know.

very good point. i think we need to figure this out pronto if we want to do this at a park also....

Kensington and Island Lake are basically the same distance. They are at the same exit, only Kensington is on the north side of 96 and Island Lake is on the south side. Exit 151 on I-96. I would recommend Island Lake, but thats because its not as big and isn't as crowded. Kensington does have a paved path that is eight miles and circles the park. Island Lake has a 4 mile path (I think), but it doesn't circle the park. It has an end to it. I just htink it would be easier to get into Island Lake.

I don't have a problem with meeting elsewhere after the dealer myself. I think that's a good idea, but the dealer (Joseph Pontiac) is the official location that is GM-friendly as well. Last year we had two s/c vibe's for the members to view and test ride. It would have been more difficult for GM to deliver them if the meet was held elsewhere. We can plan LATER the exact times and if an after-meet lounging is planned.Thanks......rasermon

Before everyone picks a park, why don't we go to Seven Lakes State Park. It's about 15 mins down the road from Josephs actually it's only 7 miles....we could do that in 5 mins.I can't find a nice website yet but it looks goodhttp://areas.wildernet.com/pag...D=165Here's another website, the DNR's...

Been along time since i've posted.. heh. been working 80 hours a week since october last year. plus 7 hours of school. :/ I may be in kentucky on the 26th i'm not sure yet. If anyone knows when the gratiot cruise is. Doing a Geology trip to kentucky for a week in June all we know so far is it's not the week of gratiot cruise. But anyhow ran into Mark last night at school, he remembered me from the Fenton meet last year and informed me you were planning another big meet.

This sucks...I live in Byron, MI--which is 10-15 minutes from Fenton (almost got my Vibe from Joseph)--but I'm currently in Vancouver, BC, trying to educate myself. If I was back home, I'd totally be on board with helping you guys with things. So are those June dates solid? I'll be home May 22-27...It was amazing to see all the Vibes roaming the streets when I was back home this winter. They're getting pretty popular here in Van City too.Later,The biggest Red Wings fan in Canada
