I see all these new Calibers running around and I can't help but think, how many Vibes would be on the road if GM spent the same amount of advertising dollars? They are similar vehicles.

When I shared my info at work with colleagues I was not surprised that nobody knows what the hell this Vibe is. But everybody knows Toyota Matrix.

Reliable, Fun to dirve, Supremely practical and Great milage! Not bad to look at either IMHO! Jeff & Mia'04 UT Orange (Go Horns!)'07 Moonstone

http://media.gm.com/servlet/Ga...35919April 2007 US Vibe sales = 2989 From those US sales numbers, in April, Chevrolet sold more Impalas than alll of the Pontiacs combined, but Pontiac sold more Vibes than all of the Saabs combined.GM Canada doesn't publish their sales figures by indvidual model, but in http://www.ccnmatthews.com/new...49066they say that in Canada, for April 07, "Pontiac Vibe sales were up 79.8% over April 2006."Hooray Canada!

May 2007 Vibe sales reported as 3221, down 26 percent from May 2006. Complete idiots must be in charge of marketing the Pontiac Vibe!!!Once again, gasoline prices top $3 per gallon most everywhere in the U.S., and yet NO ONE at Pontiac is even mentioning the great gas mileage and 'crossover' versatility of the Vibe in print, on radio, or TV! If it wasn't for GenVibe, there would be virtually no positive news about the Vibe at all! Here's the GM Media Online link to the full report in Excel (.xls) format spread across multiple worksheet pages --> http://media.corporate-ir.net/...s.xlsHere's the link Forbes article --> http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap....html

Rant all you want about GM - they are not as short sighted as Ford. Ford is even discontinuing the Focus SW for 2008. I think they would sell if promoted but are rare as hen's teeth on dealer lots. Meanwhile my 1500 shares of Ford stock are worth $8 and change pay no dividend and have little hope of recovery to anything near a former $25 level. Fortunately I have had it a long time and one of their spin offs turned into Citicorp which pays a good div and I think has a good appreciation potential in the future.

I don't think the sales decline is ALL due to a lack of advertising. I think that a lot of it has to do with the real (or perceived) value. Translation, the Vibe is more expensive for what you get (or think you get) compared to alternatives in this category. For example, The numbers for the Dodge Caliber, Mazda 3, Mazda 5, Honda Fit, Scion 4dr hatchback, Nissan Versa, all look good in comparison. Last Saturday I saw a new $20,000 "2006" advertised for $18,000. A 10% discount that I assume included any rebate on a 2006 for God's sake! That said, I wonder where that approximately $300 advertising fee that is on the dealer invoice goes. I suspect it is an overall Pontiac cost, not a Vibe cost. But then 50,000 cars x $300 is only $15 mil and perhaps that ad budget doesn't go very far these days. Also probably is applied to brochures, cost of auto shows etc.

Not that I'm bitter or anything...But can anyone here tell me how the General thinks he can sell Vibes without serious incentives? My present transportation is two Cannondale bicycles and an '85 Conversion Van in great shape... this works "good" until the snow starts flying in another couple months, and I'd really like a small car as the family runner. And living in a GM town, I'd love to get another Vibe.I went to the dealership to see what they have... a couple great 2007 5speeds, power package, curtain air bags, ABS, and "monotone" (yech) -- pretty much what I'm looking for. $19,400 sticker. Which means, I can buy it for $17,500 + tax.Come again? The Toyota dealer is advertising Scion xA's, which have all this equipment standard and are of a similar size... and have the more advance version of the same motor.. for $15,500. WITH AUTOMATIC. xB's for $16,500.If anyone wonders why the sales figures are down, think V-A-L-U-E and you have it.I'll buy another one in a heartbeat, but the pricing has got to be comparable to what it was in '04. This is stupid.

GM Canada only releases total cars and trucks they sold, but doesn't provide numbers per model. Defintely a smaler market though, the GM canada press release says 38,707 cars and trucks sold in August, 285,837 so far in 2007. By comparison, GM US sales of cars and trucks were 388,188 in August, 2,631,862 in 2007 so far.

I don't know if this is really the case, but I'm just venting cause you never see any good adds for the Vibe.

if they can manage to sell 1785 Vibes in December, they'll break 300,000 new US Vibe salesChevy sold more Silverado pickups in November than Pontiac has sold Vibes all yearand in http://www.marketwire.com/mw/release.do?id=798947, it says Quote »General Motors of Canada November Sales(November 2007 and November 2006 both had 26 selling days)OSHAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 3, 2007) - For November 2007, General Motors of Canada dealers delivered a total of 28,071 vehicles, down 10.2% from the same month last year."November was a soft month overall for industry retail sales," said Marc Comeau, GM of Canada's vice-president of sales, service, and marketing. "At GM we continue to see strength from our recently launched products like the Saturn Outlook, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave crossover utilities and the Cadillac CTS. The new Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Hybrid are creating a lot of buzz with impressive product reviews and strong customer acceptance."Comeau added, "We have seen some early success from our year-end Wish & Win promotion, showing customers that the best value on the industry's best vehicles can be found at their local GM Canada dealership."Sales Highlights- Mid Utilities were up a combined 67.4% driven by the continued strength of the all-new family of crossovers including the Saturn Outlook, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave.- GMs smaller, fuel efficient cars continue to perform well with the Chevrolet Aveo and Pontiac Wave up a combined 16.8% and the Pontiac Vibe posting gains of 31.3%.- Chevrolet Silverado and Sierra Extended Cab pick ups were up a combined 4.9%.- Cadillac sales were up 2.9% overall, led by a 38.1% increase for the award winning Cadillac CTS.Interesting the GM Canada calls thej Vibe a smaller fuel efficient car, in an article about the new CAFE fuel efficiency standards, MotorTrend says GM classifies it as a crossover sport utilityhttp://blogs.motortrend.com/62....htmlQuote »...GM will continue to use small, four-cylinder/hybrid crossover SUVs to offset the big truck mpg. This is why the Dodge Caliber and Pontiac Vibe, for example, are marketed as crossover sport/utilities. Design a hatchback with a flat load floor, EPA-classify it as a truck, and it offsets Dodge Rams, Chrysler Aspens, Cadillac Escalades and Ford F-150s.

Is the Vibe really classified as a truck for CAFE? I knew the PT Cruiser was, but I thought it had to have removable rear seats to be classified as a truck. I guess not!

Not surprising. All car manufacturers are having bad years. Ford is closing some retail locations so they don't have to build so many cars. The economy is in the tank.
