Go Little Team That Could!! I just have to post a BIG good luck to the pesky Wild as they go up to Vancouver to take on the Canucks in game 7.Go Gabby!! Go Rolie the Goalie!! Go Mitchell!!!(And, if they get to the next round, the Wild could avenge the Twins loss to Anaheim from last year's MLB playoffs.)

Yeah, but what about Andrechuck or however you spell his last name, he's like one of the greatest players out there who have never won a cup. I'd also like to see Tampa win since 3 of their players carried my fantasy team to 2nd place.

Hooray! The Lightning beat the Flyers!Sorry to any Flyers fans out there, but I've hated the Flyers with a fiery passion for over a decade. Tampa Bay really handled them well tonight, they got physical with the Flyers and kept it up through the whole game. And not the cheap shot physical stuff that the Flyers were infamous for throughout the 90's.I do feel bad for Roenick in a way, though. I even liked him when he played for the Blackhawks. Very talented player, though he is now past his prime. And congrats to Dave Andreychuk who will finally play in his first Stanley Cup finals game ever, even after playing in well over 1,000 games. I hated him when he played for the Sabres and the Bruins, but I'd hate even more to see such a player play so hard for so many years and never win the Cup.I'm no big Lighning fan by any means, but I'll be cheering them on in the finals. GO LIGHTNING!

I don't know that I'd consider them an expansion team anymore. They've been in the NHL since what, 1994 now?And I think that some of the expansion has hurt the league in some ways. Too much expansion in too short of a period of time. Waters down the talent in the league. I sorely miss the days of hockey dynasties. Now if a team wins the Cup 2 years in a row it's a miracle. It's too hard now to really get behind the out-of-town teams. Players are traded so much, great teams are usually dismantled at the end of every season, and now there are several teams that are constantly trying to buy the Cup. I haven't been watching much hockey for the past 5 years because the game and the league have changed so much that it's not as much fun anymore.

Seems like the Sharks are still an expansion team to me too. And every time I see the Penguins lineup I keep pinching myself hoping that I'll wake up and this is just a bad dream.Quote, originally posted by silverawd26 »Now, if the league got rid of the clutching/grapping and the teams who use it to their advantage, that would be awesome.Amen to that. Too bad it's been about 10 years now that the league's elite players have been complaining constantly about this and nothing solves it. They make a few changes to the rules at the end of every season to cut down on this garbage and every year the rules are enforced for about the first month and then forgotten. All I can say is thank God at least the neutral zone trap is not used anymore. That made for some excruciatingly boring games, especially when the Devils were using it in the playoffs. No wonder they won the Cup those years. Their opponents were put to sleep by it too!

The left wing lock has been around for a while, it just never really had a name. That doesn't bother me much. But the neutral zone trap drove me nuts. A team would count on scoring 2 goals in a game and then just stand everyone up at your own blue line when the opponent rushes in. Then clutch, grab, hook, hack, ride on the back of the guy carrying the puck, whatever it takes to hang all over him and force him to give up the puck. Then carry the puck to the red line and dump it in. Then do the same thing all over again. 2 hours of that can cure even the worst cases of insomnia.

I never realized this thread even existed... Any hockey talk of late with the tight race in the East and West for spots considering teams only have 12 games or less to play?

Go Caps! Hopefully they won't choke to the Pens again this year (assuming they meet in the playoffs).

I don't follow the Pro's that much. I prefer to play the game instead of watch it. I've been skating for 48 years and playing hockey 45 of them at every possible lever (well all but pro!). Currently skating in a couple summer sessions just to "keep in shape". I love it !!!!

Eh, my beloved Red Wings are done for the year, only made it to 1 game and it was Game 4 against the Yotes (3-0 shutout). I am happy with either Philly, Montreal, Chicago, or the Sharks winning it... The hockey fan in me is screaming for an Original 6 SCF though.
