I don't really think GM wants Pontiac to be "practical" anymore.

I'm not the "target" audience for the Vibe (I'm over 40) but I wanted a car with head room, utility space, good mileage and still looks good. I chose the Vibe over the Matrix because of its looks and features -- and because I got a good deal on it. I never thought I would buy a Pontiac. The only reason I did is because it's a Toyota underneath.GM needs to learn from Toyota by following their lead MORE. Not by going in the opposite direction. Maybe this is their strategy to keep Toyota from buying them out by making their products less desirable.

I'm pretty much echo maximum's comments. It amazes me to see Pontiac ads in the Sunday paper showing all the models, but with nary a mention of the Vibe. With gas prices in Mich hovering around 3.50 last weekend, their marketing strategy is a mystery to me.

NUMMI (Toyota)will only build so many vibes for GM. their major production is the Corolla and the Tacoma.
