Sub supposed to sound like....?

Post by nismo »

Well, I've had my 10" Rockford Fosgate He in my car for about a month now. And from day one, there's been a rattle in my car that I can't, by the life in me, figure out. I've tried to push on my license plate to make sure that's not the problem, that's not it. I don't know. Maybe it's jus me but when I heard people put subs in their car, people said that the Vibe was made to have a sub. Doesn't seem like it in this case. If anyone has any tips on what could be the problem, please let me know.Inder Singh

Many rattles are usually hard to find...you need to get a better idea of at least which direction it's coming from.. If it's very apparent outside the car, then that's one thing. Rattles are the most difficult part of audio install to find..

Argh, I just noticed my rear door woofers rattling, even with baffles I guess it's either the install (rattling against the metal surface?) or I'll need some Dynamat....but a rattle will only get worse with a bigger amp, right? lol...i know, dumb question...oh, and sorry for the hijack!

It could be something loose from the install. I know my crossovers rattled from a loose screw in the door. Did you screw your woofers directly into the door? Or drill a hole and use the little metal things to hold the screw?

Check the spare tire compartment, adn the amplifier screws -- i have had these problems (along with many other rattles from my 2 12"MTX's)

Sorry I didn't mention this before, but my car was rear-ended about 3-4 months ago. That probably didn't make this problem any better because they didn't seal the plastic piece on my hatch right. Thanks a lot for the responses, I'll try these ideas out and keep you guys/gals posted Inder Singh

For my hatch I had to cut a piece of cardboard smaller than the licence plate and placed it between the hatch door and the licence plate. That took the only rattle I could hear.
