Tracks in the cargo area

Post by elrodvoss »

Greetings once again.Been a while since I have been online to check the forum. I was getting some pipeing for a hot water heater (damn thing) and I noticed the tracks on the cargo floor. What are those used for? I read a note in the forum that its for mounting bike racks or something. I have read through my book and it shows it as only something you can use to tie down cargo, which cant be correct.Any help? and better yet, any pictures of what you use these for?

Yes there to tie stuff down.I think the book say's it was orginally for tieing down a full size tire when you use your spare. But I have used it to hold my daughter TV, when were taking road trips. and I have used it to tie down her little polaris Quad.My straps and connector parts were in the left side storage door. Sorry No pictures, I'm to lazy to go outside.

I have never used them, haven't found a situation where I needed to. Seems like i either have nothing in the back or so much that it can't slide around. I guess you could use them as a moveable anchor for all kinds of stuff. VibeDog used them to hold a cool pet barrier on the back of the seats

Each tie down consists of a plastic loop with screw, a plastic retainer c lip, and a metal backing plate. The backing plate sits on the retainer and is slid into the track, the loop is then screwed into it and tightened. You can use these to tie down just about anything. I've never used them once. The two fabric straps provided are to tie down a tire, but you clip those to the D rings on the side walls, not the tracks in the floor.

Here's a pic of the 3-part clip you should have received with your car. I put in some bungee cord ends for perspective, and no, the large all-plastic ends will NOT fit the clips! I use mine to secure my lawnmower.

I dont think I ever got these..but Ill have to look. But then again I bought it from carmax as a used car and these were part of the "checklist". I though it was a track as some sort of base for soemthing that you slide in. Cause when I read the manual and it said that you use it to tie stuff down, im thinking "how you going to tie down to that??"hmm.. Thanks for pic. at least now I know what to look for.
