So, back in February, I ordered a brand spankin' new Vibe - Neptune, power pkg, moons & tunes, XM and ABS. Of course, when I ordered it, I had to walk the saleman thru it, explaining what the Vibe actually was and what options were available. Anyways, I ordered the car and I was told 6 to 8 weeks... normal lead time I figured. So, after 6 weeks, I called just to see what was up...figured they'd have a VIN number or something. "Oh, we're told it will be shipped any day now," the salesman said. So, I wait another week; "It must be on it's way." THen, last week, I get a call. Apparently, no one knows where the car is, let alone if it was ever actually ordered. *sigh* If I didn;t have the bad luck, I'd have no luck at all. What kills me is that I had gotten the price down to under $17K for a car w/ a sticker of over $20K, and 0% (I'm on a tight budget). The sales mgr tells me he can order the exact same car, just a 2005 model - but can;t guarantee the price or the 0%. And, you know, I like the 2004 front so much better.*whine* Just leaving this post to have someone pity me. Perhaps I can get the 2005 at the 2004 price. We will see...hjwiino Vibe...no nothing...
call around to other states that are somewhat close by! it's not worth the FUGLY '05!!! and you can prob get a great buy on any left over '03 and '04 right now!!!

They told me beggin of January, but I told them:"hey, I need a car for my job (ski teacher). How can I get to the mountains without a car???"So I got a free rental car for the delay. Was unable to have a better price, cause the manager told me "Not happy? Go somewhere else and wait 7 months!!" can't do that so.... I finally got my Baby January 13th 2003, 6 weeks late. What happen to you is bull****, if the car was build, you were supposed to have the serial number. if not, your seller didn't do his job to order your car, so you have to get what you want. they can call other dealers to find a 2004 model close of what you order, at the same price if there are more options, or a better price if there are less.

I'd even threaten to go to the better business bureau over that. Especially if you've already gone through with the loan paperwork.

Actually, when I special ordered my Vibe in Feb. (pretty much same as yours 'cept in satellite). 6 weeks later, GM *lost* the my car as well. Except in my case, the car was shipped to the dealership and was waiting on the lot. Since the dealer couldn't technically sell me a car that didn't exist, he basically spent two days on the phone w/ GM trying to convince them he had a car that the computer said didn't exist. It was quite funny if not for the fact I was assed out of a car for 2 extra days. I say wait a couple of more weeks to see if it magically shows up. If not, but used or go to a different dealer.
I had a VIN number when I bought/ordered my 04 Vibe and I still didn't see the vehicle for over a month. Depending on when it rolls off the line at the factory, it could be sitting somewhere either there at the lot or on a train car. I waited 6 months for my Vibe, ordered in July and saw it in Dec, had the VIN in Nov... 4-6 week from time VIN is available. But don't get an 05... ugly lil buggers those.

Have you tried this?Go to http://www.pontiac.com (Not gmbuypower, although it may also work)Configure your Vibe just the way you wanted it.Select 'Find Vehicle'Enter your zip code (and surrounding zip codes for communities you'd drive to in order to find a car)You'll get a list of up to 25 matching vehicles (that is, Vibes) by distance from the zip code you've entered. To narrow the selection somewhat, if you select vehicles with the same MSRP as the vehicle you 'configured', you'll be pretty close.Hope this helps!

Just in case you were wondering what has happened so far...Turns out the car was never ordered. Dealer told me they would order a new car, 2005 model, and charge the same for the previously ordered car: 2005 MSRP = $22K vs 2004 negotiated price of $17000. Ahh... but we're still working on the 0% part. Nevertheless, I had them order it. As I haven't signed any papers for a 2005, I figure, and perhaps I am naive in this view, if they cannot give me the financing I was originally guaranteed, that $22000 Vibe will become a white (or, in this case, blue) elephant on their lot (it's got a lot of stuff in it, including the protection pkg, XM, M&T, power pkg, alloy wheels). In three weeks, I'll let you know (you know, if you're interested) in whether or not I have a spiffy new Vibe, or still puttering around in my Golf TDI...Now, I have to admit that I like the 2004 looks better than the 2005's. I know most out there are jumping up and down, horrified that I would take the 2005 over the 2004. But, I am not buying this car for aesthetics alone: ease of maintanence, gas milage, utility and that spiffy lil plug hidden in the console. Besides, I live in New Orleans... it's only a matter of time before someone takes off the front facia in a hit and run. Perhaps when that happens, I can get it replaced with 2004 pieces parts.

If I had the chance, you betcha I'd grab an '05 with all of the goodies in a heartbeat. Especially if it was for a good price! I would even give up my '03 in the process. I can't say that I find the '05 reskin that hideous. I've seen designs far worse than this, just MHO of course, so please no flames. I'd say, if you like it, go for it! The '05 will continue to offer the things it sounds like you're looking for - reliability, utility, economy, same as the '03 and 04 have done.

So, it's me again...Apparently, my 2005 Vibe was ordered, back in the first week of may. But, today I just got a message from the dealer that Pontiac will not start producing manual transmissions until mid June at the earliest; thus another 6 weeks at least before maybe, just possibly, perhaps there is a slight chance it may arrive by July. If this cart showa up in July, it will be 4 months later than what I was originally told. *sigh* Is it so wrong of me just to want this to be easy? So, I'm at my end here... do I wait, or just go get one of those Mazda 3s (several in the arear with a nice stick shift....)?Where's the love for the manual transmission?
well, the m3 is nice. but i don't think it has as much cargo or room as the vibe. depends on what you want to get. plus, i don't believe they have any special financing or rebates.... but you could see. personally, i'd wait for the vibe or call around some other dealers that are in nearby states to see if they can get you what you want faster. when i bought my 00 cougar, i bought it from a dealer in Seattle and had it shipped. got it in about 2 months... and still saved myself $2500 even after paying $1100 for shipping! if there's a will, there's a way!
Unless you're REALLY tied to Pontiac (e.g. GM employee discount or the like) it might be time to visit your friendly Toyota dealer and check out the availability of a Matrix XR?

I think it's the American culture. The general public would rather have an automatic transmission because a clutch would be too hard to keep pushed in while in line at the McDonald's drive through waiting for our supersized fries.

‘03 Vibe with 317k and still going.............................
As has been sugested, just have the dealer find you a car on another lot or use GMs dealer search feature. I would be very surprised if there isn't a car you want within a couple of hundred miles.
Vibe GT, TRD springs, Progress bar, STB, Unichip, Borbet E 16x7.5, 225/50 Bridgestone RE750, beefed up grounds and battery bypass capacitors(had em laying around)
Alas, I have been to several other dealerships. And, I have tried the search thru pontiac.com... heck, I was searching for a car in Seattle and New York and Boston... I was ready to give up everything except the M&T, power and manual transmission. But, either it was all auto, or I found several GTs, but no power package (I did find a few GTs w/ everything I wanted, but they also had the sport kits and spoilers on 'em ).Nevertheless, I've come to the conclusion that I will just wait. I hate buying a car, and I figure while my TDI still sputters and gas prices continue to climb I might as will sit tight. Still, I'm gonna whine - not pretty, but it's my nature...Thanks for your input; it is all greatly appreciated. It's nice to have a lil place where people don't mock you because you want a station wagon instead of a SUV (and what is a SUV other than a wagon or steroids?)...hjwii
