Rear window wiper wash?

Post by meankangaroo »

I got my Vibe GT on the 17th. I love it so far. A silly question though: on the wiper control stick at the end you can twist forward or backward to get wash fluid to come out. Either way I do it, I get a relatively slow low pressure copious stream of fluid that goes right down the middle and does a good job of washing my back window but also dirties up the hatch handle and bumper. Is that normal? I was kinda expecting the thing to spray in a wider mist one or the other ways. I don't want to take it back if it's one of those 'It's supposed to do that." sort of dealios.

Oh, duh. I guess it IS a feature, not a bug. Bad me for not checking the search feature before posting, mea culpa.Of course, now I wonder if there's an aftermarket part to make the washersprayer less lame. (:

Gotta love that search. You'll find it EXCEEDINGLY helpful in your stay with us! I use it several times daily!Anyway, we've discussed in the past the logistics of replacing the rear washer head with a stronger one. But someone pointed out that it was intentioanlly designed to keep the stream against the window. It woudl seem that, at high speeds, a sprayer similar to the front windshield would likely get blown away from the window, thus being worthless. But if I can find an aftermarket spray head, I'd likely consider being guinea pig for that experiment.Actually, now that I think about it, I"m adding it to my shopping list next time I'm at the boys with pep!

yep. that's normal... but it does work. as mike already pointed out, the spray would most likely get blown away if you were driving. but welcome to genvibe! always good to see another gt owner! let us know what color, options, mods, etc you have or plan on....

I read in another thread that they've put a new rear washer nozzle on the 05 models which has a double squirt (two holes rather than one). Is this better than the pitiful piddle that the 03-04 Vibes put down the rear window? Would it be hard to switch to the new nozzle? If not, what is the part number? Thanks.

my 2004 has a 2 port nozzle...it's not a 'dribble' but more like 2 streams....definitley not a mist though.
I have signatures turned off so I'm not even sure what mine says in this space!

A mist would be nice but I got the two nozzle thing also. So I get two streams down my window and hatch heh. For that very reason, I don't use it and haven't needed to.
