A lot of his facts were true, not because they were "his" facts but because it was true. The US with everyone having guns has a higher gun death rate than any other place. I don't have anything against the US but the second I cross into detroit through Windsor, I feel lost, helpless, afraid... probably because of what the media as subjected to us all.

The US isn't as bad as that. Unless you're in the projects, or a bad neighborhood, then you really don't have to worry about anyone bothering you. I felt somewhat helpless and lost in Canada. Then again, that's probably because when I first drove there, I had nothing more than my car, bags full of clothes, money, and a r-e-a-l-l-y bad set of internet directions .

He did say that he was crossing into Detroit....many many not so "nice" areas from what I hear. And many accidental firearm deaths in the US are caused by drunken hunters and people that have not secured their gun properly. If you decide to own a firearm, then you take on the responsibility of properly securing it. I am certainly not an anti-gun person, I actually suggest that every law abiding citizen should own at least one and know how to properly use and care for it. But for God's sakes, make sure that it is well out of the range of where your curious 4 year old might get hold of it.

Quote, originally posted by Mavrik »A lot of his facts were trueA lot? So you admit that you know many of his facts weren't true? When I watch a documentary, I expect ALL of the facts to be true, not 'a lot' of them. There's nothing wrong with you reccommending that people watch the movie. I just felt people needed to know that it is mostly fiction, before they watch it. I liked the movie too, but I found out after that it was mostly staged and half truths and bare faced lies. I felt a little cheated to say the least. Here's a few examples that I can remember: When he went into a bank and opened an account and immediately recieved a gun for opening a new account. That was staged. The bank manager stated publicly that Moore asked them to allow him to stage the scene in his bank and he agreed because he assumed Moore would portray it truthfully. The bank does not and never has given a gun to a person in a bank immediately after they opened a new account. True, they did have a gun giveaway (which I find odd), but it wasn't given to you immediately as the Moore portrayed. The gun was made available at a later date, after a background check and confirmation of identity. Moore showed a scene where he claims to have walked into a K Mart and bought ammunition off the shelf from an untrained clerk. This entire scene has been debunked and denied by K Mart. Quite simply it never happened and the scene was staged. The gun show that Moore said was opened near Columbine, shortly after the shooting, never happened. It was a staged lie. His harrassment of Charlton Heston was staged, full of lies and half truths. These are just a few examples I can think of right now. I am not a gun siupporter or user. I see no need for so many guns in America, but present the facts as they are. So people, Bowling for Columbine is a very entertaining movie that I enjoyed and I give it the thumbs up. Just know that it is not a documentary as Moore claimed. It is entertainment.

The facts I was refering to Vibe Rater were the ones shown at the first 10 mins of the movie about the history of guns, weapons of mass destruction and all that. The information on how the US funded and then turned around and attacked different countries and all that. The "staged" stuff or what ever was not what I was refering to. Anyone living in Flint able to confirm there was no gun show? I won't argue cause I would not have any idea.

It's worse when you have a relative campaigning. My uncle was compaining for Circuit Clerk and Recorder, and then the next year he campaigned for State Representative. Each time I was one of the people walking around in a campaign shirt hanging campaign things on people's doorknobs, etc, etc, etc. The celebration parties that followed made it worth it though ^^
