Anyone have any of their favorite quotes? Some of mine are; "Whoever said money can't buy happiness wasn't poor." "I hate everything""Life sucks, then you die."

my favorit verse in the Bible, I kid you not, in the NIV is Luke 5:10:Jesus said, ..."from now on, you will catch men."I had that as my senior quote.

Quote, originally posted by trdvibe »my favorit verse in the Bible, I kid you not, in the NIV is Luke 5:10:Jesus said, ..."from now on, you will catch men."I had that as my senior quote. (removed)!!! Good stuff :DI'm not one much for quotations, but I will recite a passage from my own personal "bible"Douglas Adams - Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"The Babel FishThe Babel fish... is small, yellow and leechlike, and probably the oddest thing in the Universe. It feeds on the brainwave energy received not from its own carrier but from those around it. It absorbs all unconscious mental frequencies from this brainwave energy to nourish itself with. It then excretes into the mind of its carrier a telepathic matrix formed by combining the conscious thought frequencies with nerve signals picked up from the speech centers of the brain which has supplied them. The practical upshot of all this is that if you stick a Babel fish in your ear you can instantly understand anything said to you in any form of language. The speech patterns you actually hear decode the brainwave matrix which has been fed into your mind by your Babel fish. Now it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mind-bogglingly useful could have evolved purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as a final and clinching proof of the non-existence of God. The argument goes something like this:"I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing.""But," says Man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. QED.""Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic."Oh, that was easy," says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white and gets himself killed at the next zebra crossing. Most leading theologians claim that this argument is a load of dingo's kidneys, but that didn't stop Oolon Colluphid making a small fortune when he used it as the central theme of his best-selling book, 'Well That About Wraps It Up for God.'Meanwhile, the poor Babel fish, by effectively removing all barriers to communication between different races and cultures, has caused more and bloodier wars than anything else in the history of creation. "I would also like to add in:"I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours." (Stephen Roberts)If you ever get a second chance in life for something, you've got to go all the way. - Lance ArmstrongWhat the hell, some more of my favorite ones from Dougas Adams"I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.""In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move." "You live and learn. At any rate, you live.""Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so." (From his book, Last Chance to See) [HIGHLY RECOMMENDED READING]Oh ... and another funny one that I've remembered over the years from HHGG"Anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job."I think it's time to update my Email signature....

I have three favorite quotes:"Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds. The mediocre mind is incapable of understanding the man who refuses to bow blindly to conventional prejudices and chooses instead to express his opinions courageously and honestly." Albert Einstein"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe,is as good as dead: his eyes are closed." Albert Einstein"God doesn't play dice." Albert Einstein

I have a couple favoritesfrom literature, (Robert Heinlein)"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects."From the Bible, Matthew 5, esp v. 38-44Fom my mom to some busybody"I already have a doctor a lawyer and a priest. I don't need any advice from you"from my wife when asked "does your dog bite?", she calmly replied "That depends on how fast you can run"

Don't sweat the petty, pet the sweaty.Has anyone called you an a**hole yet today? 'Cause I don't want to be the first...Don't walk behind me, for I will not lead. Don't walk in front of me, for I will not follow. Walk beside me and be my friend. If women ran the Pentagon, would missiles be shaped differantly?
