Break In Period

Just picked up my new 2004 VibeGT last Saturday. Not having a new car in a while, do you still need to "break" in my Vibe. Like for the first 500 keep it under 65MPH and don't go beyond 6k RPM.I'm diggin everything about this vehicle. I traded in a 96 Audi A4 in mint condition. The Vibe is more sporty, even with out the AWD. Plus I can fit 10 times the stuff. I have the 17in wheels, Moon and Tune. Radio is great, the XM option is the way to go. I got 3 free months, then $9.99 per month. The color is satelite. Photos to follow.

Yeah, go easy on it for the first few hundred miles. A "break-in" in the traditional way isn't really needed these days. I wouldn't do 5000-rpm clutch dumps, full-throttle accelerations or unnecessary hard braking until a few hundred miles are on the clock but otherwise you should be OK. Scott is right. The break in period isn't nearly as extensive as it used to be. The first few hundred miles are fine.Congratulations on getting your GT. Welcome to GenVibe!

i just got a new 2004 Vibe (i call it El Salsero ) in the last month. The manual recommends a break-in period of 500 miles (following the guidelines everyone has mentioned above).for your brakes, they recommend 'easy', gradual braking for the first 200 miles (this will apply every time you have your brakes redone down the road).enjoy your vibe! i sure like minesylvain
