AFtermarket Security/Alarm Suggestions...

Post by DavidPIL »

Hello there...I'm looking into purchasing an alarm system for my Vibe. Yeah, I've read some of the posts and I pretty much realize if someone wants to steal the car, they're gonna get it but I'm more concerned with items I may have inside. Since I travel occasionally with expensive or irreplaceable items, I think it's an important thing to look into. The factory alarm was around $325-$350 so something in that range seems logical. Was looking at the Clifford Matrix 2.5 but now considering the CompuSTAR 2WFMR with a 1/4 mile range. Any suggestions on these? Any advice on anything else? Hope to make the decision soon... let me know! Thanks in advance...Dave

If you look at one of my previous threads...I recently installed a Viper 790XV in my Vibe. Works great! Still need to get used to having the remote start. The Clifford Matrix and the newer Viper series are virtually the same thing...both have the 1/4" mile distance on them. If you don't want remote start, go with something like the Viper 590.Stay away from Alpines and Prestige..I sell all of them, as I work at Circuit City. If you need any info about installing one yourself, I'll help ya out!

Hiya,Yeah, I saw that thread... I'm about 35 miles from a Circuit City. They seems to be better than Best Buy these days. I was hoping to stay local but will do what's best... I'll have to check out the Viper alarms... thanks...Dave

Hmmm will the insurance company drop the rate if you get an alarm installed?? I have been thinking about getting an alarm system since I am moving out of a military post. I need some sort of peace of mind parking my precious vibe in the streets

Hey cibomatto!I know in Montreal we get a discount , it's usually 5-10% off for having a killswitch/alarm system. You should call and find out.My Clifford cost me installed around 350.00$ CAN.

YES! Most insurance companies will give you a discount (albeit not very big) if you have an active alarm system.. Especially one that can arm itself automatically.Basically because your car would be less likely to be stolen!
