I've had issues with my airbag light being on in my 2004 vibe, and I finally got around to buying/replacing a clock spring. The light didn't go out even with the battery disconnected for a few hours. I've heard of "latching" faults that don't disappear without special scanners to manually clear them. I do have a OBDLink MX+ Bluetooth device but the software that comes with it doesn't show any codes to clear, but the airbag light is still on. How do I obtain the codes? Is there a different software I need to use (I know for my Jeep, I needed AlfaOBD, but that doesn't have an option for Pontiac/Toyota cars).
Is there software that anyone would recommend (PC or phone/android) that I should be using to read/clear airbag codes on a vibe? Or some specific model of scanner that I should use? Or I saw mention of someone jumpering pins on the obd port and getting flashing lights, but there weren't enough details on how to perform that procedure in the post.

Late reply here but for information to this thread..... Cheap code readers only read the "P" codes (power train), which is mostly engine related. You need a scanner that will read "C" codes (chassis codes) to work with airbag codes. You would be looking at scanners priced roughly $250 and up. Just make sure it is able to read "C" codes.
Flashing light by shorting pins is something left over from the early days of computers in cars (1979-1995). After 1996, the flashing light was fazed out because a code scanner was needed, for the more complex troubleshooting that was needed with the newer systems.
