I've searched everywhere for the 4 Window Belt Trim Moulding strips that sit on the the outside of the windows to prevent water from getting into the door. Maybe I have the wrong name for these ellusive parts?
I've seen them called Belt Trim Moulding, Belt Trim Molding, Sealing Strips.
I'm also wondering if these strips are the same strips that are used on the Matrix? If so, maybe you can order the Matrix part numbers.
The one's I have found online for the Vibe are discontinued.
I checked and it appeared to me that the 03-08 Vibe and 03-08 Matrix use the same window belt molding strip.
For example, this would be right front: Belt Molding - Toyota (75710-01031) 2003-2008 Toyota Matrix - 757100103
Of course, each door location will have a different part #.
I will note for others that on the two rear doors that I was working on, in addition to a small clip on the molding near the rear, there is a single metal tab on the door that holds the molding secure. This tab is about 1/4" wide and is about 9 or 10 inches back from the forward edge of the molding strip.
If you just release the front or forward edge of the molding, and then try to lift or twist it out, it is unlikely to come up without bending or damaging the molding because that tab is holding it down! I guess this is no big deal if you are removing and tossing the old strip. However, if you are thinking about trying to refresh and replacing that old strip back on the door, then you would want to have the window all the way down so that you can use your fingers to grasp the back side and twist or roll it up and out - especially in that area of the metal tab. As you twist or roll the molding strip, it enables the bottom part to clear that tab. Wear gloves for better grip. I found if the window is up, it was extremely difficult to be able to release the old strip without bending it.
If you are installing a new belt molding strip, then it's going to be much, MUCH easier because you don't care how much you bend the old one. Once it's out, clean the area of all the dirt and the new one should snap in pretty easy.
I have an '04 Vibe Base and have the same problem with the belt weatherstripping. Pontiac numbers are discontinued but Toyota Matrix numbers are still good. I had to buy the driver's side front and rear and they are a perfect fit! Left front 75720-01031, Left rear 75740-01041. (Right front 75710-01031, Right rear 75730-01041) '03-'08 vibe/matrix will fit. '09-'10 are different. I have a Toyota dealership up the street and he said order them on line and have them sent to the dealership, it will be cheaper. It was much cheaper but still expensive as hell. Final price $251.75 for both after discounts, etc. I tried getting some at a junkyard and they are difficult to remove without bending, and that's provided you can find a good pair considering things from that time are 20 years old. Very easy to install new ones. Save your pennies and buy new.
FYI I did the same with the large gas tank shield (the large flat heat shield thing by the gas tank). Pontiac - discontinued, Toyota - available. This was over 7 years ago however. The lesson is to try Toyota and they might have the part where Pontiac is discontinued. Just make sure it's compatible. Most parts are interchangeable with the Matrix.
