I was trying to find the code in the owner manual and nothing.jake75 wrote:From what I have read here that red blinking light is just a red blinking light. Just like sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
Okay, so when you disconnected your battery, did not the radio lock up and asked you for a security code? I just wanted to find out the easy way instead of the hard one.trb wrote:No issues when we had the battery changed in my son's 06. Just kind of like the alarm signs people have outside their house. Maybe you have one, maybe not.

Theftlock radios used by GM require a data bus in the car, where the radio is connected to the car's computer and other things. SInce the Vibe is mostly Toyota, there is no GM data bus in the car. GM uses the same basic radio in other cars, enabling the theftlock by changing the radio's programming, but they used a different program for the ones that go in Vibes, one that does not require the data bus.
So, we get a radio that has a red LED that blinks when the car is off. Looks like a theftlock radio, but really no secret that it is just a pretend security device
If you were to buy another OEM radio for your Vibe, be sure it came out of a Vibe or Matrix, because there are GM radios out there that look the same but will not work in a VIbe.
If you were to remove the radio, or disconnect the battery for a year, the only effect on the radio when you hook it back up is that you'll need to set the clock.
Is the quoted info accurate?joatmon wrote: ↑Sat Nov 10, 2012 6:09 am Neither your Vibe nor your sister's Vibe have an actual theftlock radio.

I see that in the 07 manual, and while I think the quoted info applies to your 07, I can't testify that it does.
I didn't know the '03-'04 Matrix could be optioned with the Delco AM/FM/CD/Cassette. Given that it was completely plug & play and works 100% perfectly, that must be where mine came from.joatmon wrote: ↑Fri Jun 19, 2026 1:24 pm The 03 (and possibly 04) Matrix had an optional radio with cassette deck. I have bought and installed them in three Vibe/Matrix, to support one of those tape to phono plug adapters for playing music on the phone through the car radio. Was never an option on Vibes, but fully interchangeable.
My understanding was that comparable GM year radios that appear to be identical to the vibe radio had a dependency on the GM data bus that was not implemented in the Vibe because is is primarily a Toyota. So maybe you got one from an 03 matrix, or maybe the GM data bus wasn't fully implemented on some other models
