Install a hood release cable question

Hello,

The hood release cable on my 2007 Vibe snapped a couple of years ago.

I was finally able to find a new cable. Right now I've been popping the hood with a peice of coat hanger I had jury-rigged to the release.

To install the new cable do I need to hoist up the car?

From a parts blowup I found, it looks like it runs through the firewall and through the engine room, maybe above a fender skirt.
