New 2004 Vibe FWD auto 1.8 owner! First non-Honda car!

Post by 2004PonVibe »

Hello everyone,

I am new to this 2004 tired looking base FWD 1.8 auto, have had a few issues, HVAC actuator is still clicking, I can deal with that, is a Northeast US rusted car but runs okay. This severe cold snap has thrown P0133 codes left and right, I'll replace with the Denso OEM sensor when it warms up, just did the plugs from the original factory Denso plugs to Bosch 0.6 fine wire iridium plugs last week, checked the injectors and they are very clean. However there was a lot of oil in both socket 2 & 4 so ordered a valve cover gasket and will wait for warmer temps to repair, the interior light bulbs are torn out by previous owner, T10 doesn't fit in the map lights on the base model rear view mirror but figured it out that it takes T15, oops.

I'm used to hondas only, started with the legendary K series motors back in 2004 and just recently traded in my 376k mile Acura TSX for this gas sipper, it's funny how different both Honda and Toyota seem to be. The high idle startled me it will crank and go straight to 2.6k until it starts to warm up, I do not turn heat or radio on until needle moves in any of my cars.
Alloy paint is started to bubble but tires are new good year ultra grips.
Needs suspension BAD
Literally bunny hops on the thruway on my commutes to work when I hit off center on a bridge divider or bump in the road. Brakes sound like they need replacement as well.

Any suggestions from you experts on this GM branded Toyota matrix?

Also is it correct that the FWD base auto didn't come with rear sway bar? Wow...
