Okay where does everyone shift (RPM)

I try shifting at 8300 which is redline,and when i grab secound. It in between lift and no lift and it jerks back and fourth.This at about 6150-6200 thats where lift starts it pisses my off sometimes. On all other gears its fine just frist to secound is a pain . Does anyone else get this? If i shift lower and dont land in lift its fine. The only way i can get it to shift smooth if i leave the clucth in longer.

Which mounts do i use this stuff at? I heard some guy use 3m window gunk stuff from autozone. maybe your right iam gonna try this.

Since there is a fuel cutoff, technically if you shift at that point you don't have to lift at all; the revs won't go any higher... (insert generic weasel-words here, re responsibility or lack thereof if anything goes wrong...)

my 1-2 shift sucks mostly when im just driving...in lift when i do it quick it doesnt shake back and forth. at like 4000-5000 if i dont give it gas when i shift and do it a special way, itll jerk etc.

MADBILL,So what your saying the higher i try to shift it dont matter its always going to fall between lift and no lift. like i said the only way shift it smooth is ride the clutch and it shifts smooth and stays in lift. To me thats killing the clutch thow. What do you think?

Sorry! When I wrote "lift" I meant you don't have to lift your gas pedal foot from the floor during a shift at the rev limiter RPM, as the revs wont go any higher. (but I'm not sure this would be recommended by GM!)Slipping the clutch to keep the engine in lift will kill it in a hurry. It would be really hard on the best of clutches, and it seems that in the GT it is more than a little fragile.What's really needed is a new computer calibration that lowers the "lift" point about 500-800 RPM, since the power sags before it comes on at 6,000. If it was around 5,200 to 5,500, it would be easy to stay in lift!

I think i figured it out,iam letting the clutch out to fast. Is it just me or this clutch is slow?

I take it you mean to keep it in lift? I hope you dont rev it up that high all the time.

I thought that with these Yamaha designed heads, that the motor doesnt mind at all?....and ....I would have thought that if they went to the trouble to make a 6spd tranny, they could have made 1st & 2nd gear ratios a little more compatible to stay in lift !!!!!!!!!??????????

Yeh, it would be nice if 1-2 was a little tighter but these weren't made for the 1/4 mi. They just happen to be pretty good at it with some practice. It doesn't seem like the 2zz wears out early from being driven hard unless there is a mod involved or sudden 'induced' failure.
