Fuel injectors fouling

Post by rloftus »

Awhile back my Vibe was running really rough so I took it to the mechanic and he told me the fuel injectors were dirty and I just needed to fill up the tank and run some fuel injector cleaner through it. I followed his advice and the problem was resolved. Now my problem is it seems like I have to add a bottle of fuel injector cleaner every 3 to 4 months to keep the rough idle and loss of power from returning.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Are the fuel injectors in the vibe prone to fouling or does this mean I've got a dirty fuel system? Any advice on how to resolve this issue, or should I just get used to it and chalk it up to routine maintenance?

To be clear you've got a 2003 2wd base model Vibe with around 100k miles (I looked at your post history) 8-)

When does it run rough? Is it just when the car is cold at idle or all through out the rev band?
What octane rating are you purchasing?
Do you always buy from the same brand? If so have you tried another brand?

To your questions. My Vibe has not had trouble with it's fuel system. It has nearly 160k miles on the OD. It did have trouble running rough on cold days at idle before replacing the intake manifold gasket.
