Basically if you have a factory CD changer, external to the radio, then this kit "disables" the CD changer while giving you an AUX audio port. So you can have only one or the other, CD or AUX, but not both.
Was looking at one of these before I upgraded my system, did not have external CD changer, so I replaced the head unit. For about twice the price of the kit, you can get a basic head unit with more features, and the ability to have CD and AUX together.
I'm looking to do the same thing, and I believe I found a kit that may work! I like the look of the factory radio, and to buy a new double din radio that looks decent costs $150+.

You get a lot of flexibility with mounting of the inputs as well. Looks like you also need a set of delco antenna adapters. ($8.xx on Amazon)
I installed the isimple is31 today to my 2004 vibe factory radio. The isimple is31 is the same as the is32 but without the USB input and indicator light. I got it pretty cheap from here:
It wasn't too difficult to install and it works great! Now I can connect my phone to the car radio and the audio from whatever's playing on my phone plays through the car speakers. Pandora, YouTube, ... anything! You can connect any device that has an audio jack.

The on/off switch above the A/C button comes with the is31 and turns the modular on or off.
