Vibe 2009 Just behind the windshield there are 2 dome lights with a switch : off door on. All of a sudden my left light wouldn't go off. At night I would disconnect the battery. The right light worked fine. I managed to get the bulb of the left light out (pull straight out). Now my automatic key locks don't work with the open lock buttons, and the right light doesn't work anymore either. I don't see any blown fuses. I have no idea how to remove the light assembly, no screws etc. If I lock my door with the key all the locks lock well. I think there is something broken in the switch but have no idea how to remove this assembly. Help! I am a new owner. I bought this car used with very low kilometers on it. It was much cheaper than a Matrix. My mechanic said the motor was the best one ever made. It gets great gas mileage. It is an automatic. He couldn't find a blown fuse. What is the connection between the left dome light and the key locks, and how does one get the assembly off the roof? I am a new user of "genvibe" site. I'm not sure how this works yet.
Hi there, welcome to Genvibe! Do the dome lights you are referring to look like the following?
I think those are the map lights. If so, are you sure someone didn't accidentally press the button to activate the left map light and forget to turn it off (by pressing the actual light cover? I also wonder if running without the light bulb opened some sort of circuit; since the lights come up when the door is opened and go off when the doors are locked, they may be tied together in some way.
I'm just taking some guesses in an attempt to troubleshoot/help. Maybe one of the 2009 Vibe owners can offer advice as well!

Thank you. They are "map lights" but different. Two long lights with a switch in the middle. (2009 model). There is some kind of a short in there. Somehow it affects the ability to open and close locks with key buttons. I am totally stumped as to how to remove the panel holding the lights and switch. There is a little door that opens in the middle for putting ?? but no screws or anything. I am pretty sure there is a broken wire since the fuses seem to be ok.
I can live with it but sure liked locking my car from afar. Since I removed the bulb at least I don't have to disconnect the battery every night.

I am thinking the exact same thing.
I would recommend putting the left bulb back in and making sure that the light is off by pressing the corresponding button. If this is not the issue, then I don't know what to tell you. I've removed the bulbs from the map lights on our 2009 GTs, but never the entire assembly.
