Center console compartment popping open? A simple fix

I read here some were complaining that the center console compartment popping open at inopportune times. Sure enough mine started doing it.Since I need the ride and can't leave it at the dealership I decided to have a go at it.It is obvious that the manufacturing tolerances are loose and the nub that retracts when opened has to be longer in those that pop open. I took the screws off the back of the mechanism to see if there was any adjustment, there wasn't.Ok, then I decided that the only other method was to shim the entire compartment up.What could I use that wasn't permanent? I cut two small pieces of the hook side of sticky backed velcro each about 1/4"x3/8" (approx.) These were stuck on the triangle shaped "rocker"pieces on the bottom of the compartment. These fit in to two cups which the compartment pivots on.Being sticky they stock right on. The compartment was raised just enough to increase the nub height enough to be positively engaged on the console.So far, the mod works after 25-30 miles.

someone else fixed it by putting a piece of foam tape on it somewhere. there is thread about it i beleive.
