Anybody put Yokohama AVID TRZs or Kuhmo Solus KH16s on their Vibe? I've got a 2003 AWD - low miles only 29k, and my Goodyears still have a little tread left on them (probably 4-5/32"), but with rough winters here, thinking I might replace them soon. These Yokos have received good reviews on tirerack, looks like they do well in the winters, and have an 80k treadlife warranty. The Kuhmos are a bit cheaper, have a 60k treadlife warranty, not rated quite as high but good, and again, cheaper. All sounds great on paper, but was wondering if anyone had used them on a Vibe and how they like 'em. Thanks!

I had Kuhmo Solus KH16s on my last car (not a vibe, sorry).... and I was very happy with them. Good traction, winter and rain. Not as sticky as the dunlops they replaced - but lasted almost twice as long.Tireracks' survey is about spot on with my experience: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/...+KH16There are better snow/ice tires out there - but I spent most of my time on groomed highways and city streets.
I'm contemplating putting the same tires on my wifes AWD vibe:Yokohama AVID TRZ TiresSeem to have the best tread rating, and seem to be the best bang for the buck at 81/perMy biggest concern was a safe tire for all weather including snow, rain, etc of S.E. Michigan, with decent/safe handling/stability, traction and performance/safety being paramount, and price/treadware is secondary.I was hoping to find some impressions on here as well, but it looks like I will be the guinea pig.If you bought these tires please chime in.So far the only negative I have heard is that they are not carried, so the local belle tire would have to order them in.I've heard rumors of short treadware, but with an 80k mile warranty that is not a concern for me.Thanks,Don
Not on our Vibe but I put Kumho Solus KH16 on our Saturn Vue about a month ago. The Solus tested very close to the Avid TRZ (see below) but were priced about $35/tire less than the TRZ in the size we needed for the Vue. Very quiet tire and reasonable price at Discount Tire. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/...tid=5I believe the tests speak well for the Solus.
Yes, if I lived in Texas it would be the Solus...With Snow and Ice a concern, the reviews show too big of a difference between the two tires. This sways me towards the AVID's for not much more.Keep in mind, I've been in, and seen car crashes because of inadequate tires for the conditions / usage. Every little bit helps!!!!As far as track performance, there is no doubt the solus is a better bang for the buck. Keep in mind they are only roughly $16.00 cheaper per tire, and the local Discount Tire does not stock them.
