I got an email from the dealer with the 'official' order # our Vibe. Is there anyway to track the progress of this order with bugging the dealer? You know just like how one can track on line the building of a Dell computer.
Quote, originally posted by mistamatrix »Did they give you an ETA?Funny you asked. I had emailed the sales manager at the dealership asking for an ETA now that we know the order #...didnt hear back. So yesterday I called the 1800 line for GM Canada. The rep said that besides the order # , knowing the model # (I think that's what she called it), which can be obtained from the dealer , would be helpful. I didnt have much time to pursue this. Hopefully Ill hear back from the dealer next week. If *you* were guessing how long do you think it should take from start to finish to get my factory Vibe to Ontario? Because it is factory ordered it shouldnt depend on the configuration right?

Hmmm sales for the vibe are up 24% over last year and NUMMI builds 1 vibe every 70 seconds. depending on the options it will vary when yours will start to be built. since it is an export that will be a little longer, domestic orders take precidence.I'd guess 8 hours from body shop to the ship point in final assemby. then factor in a day if anything happened IE: paint defect, electrical defect, ect. then it will sit in a shipping yard waiting for othe vibes that are going that direction. when enough vibes are coming to your area in canada they will ship them either by truck or rail. it will then be shipped to a centeral location in canada to be routed with other vehicles going to that dealer. I'd say 2 to 3 months (i'd hope shorter)sorry if this sounds depressing. happy new vibe as far as model number, that is what the VIN # is and that # is issued when the car is finally on the line at NUMMI. you will have to ask the dealer, and he wont know that untill he gets it from NUMMI.

I was hoping just under 2 months. Just curious fellow Ontarians but as a factory order of an '05 what was your wait time? Quote, originally posted by scherry2 » sorry if this sounds depressing. happy new vibe 0Really detailed inside info scherry2. Interesting reading. I am just wondering when I can bug the dealer again to check on the VIN.

When I signed the deal to purchase the factory ordered Vibe I took advantage of the 3 year 0% financing. However the sales manager pointed out that if GM decides in the meantime (ie prior to the car being delivered) to no longer offer such an incentive then it would no longer apply to me as well I was surprised. Doesnt seem fair...maybe I decided to purchase the Vibe in part because of such finanacing.

Very true wolfsburg ...already decided to get a stone guard, rust proofing and mud guards (both thru the dealer because of the 0% financing). I ordered as an option the cargo mat. Now I am wondering about mats in the driver and passenger; front and rear. Is it simpler to find proper fitting ones anywhere?
At least here in the States, front and rear floormats should be standard equipment. The dealer gets a package with each car that contains the mats, cargo cover, tie downs, straps, etc.

Turns out, it worked in their favor: GM added an additional $500 in incentives between when they ordered and when it arrived.

Lets see, we signed the deal March 17th...not sure when he phoned whoever to make it official. And today March 26th I was told that the tentative build date is for the week of May 2nd. And barring any unforseen delays we should see your Vibe land towards the end of May. I know that in the beginning ('03 MY) the wait times were excessive but it doesnt seem much better for my '05.
I ordered mine in late summer 2003 with no rush on the order. It arrived winter 2003 right at the time of all the winter specials so I qualified for Ring In and Win and all that great stuff. Since I worked there I didn't get 0% but got the lowest anyone could get at the time. My Vibe was built on a monday, shipped and two weeks later it showed up at the dealership. I was in no hurry for it.But average wait times for regular orders for the Vibe from Cali factory seem to be 3-6 weeks.

I was in the dealer this morning for unexpected servicing on my problematic Montana van and he checked the status of the order as I waited....the build date has been locked in for the week of April 18th. So delivery should be mid May at the latest .
