I don't think it's off center... I believe it's the little post in the middle of the scoop that makes it look that way. that piece was crooked to begin with.
your right, dman. that post on the scoop itself isn't centered. are you gonna put a grill over the top so you can't see the closed hood underneath? maybe that's why i'm not such a fan... since you can tell that it's not real. i think if you put a grill or made it functional, then it'd actually look pretty cool. better than the SLP hood indented scoops. wonder if you could use the inner hood lining from the SLP for the factory hood. that way, if you make it a functional ram air hood, you don't have to worry about too much water getting in? hmm.... now that would be sweet!

I think it would look cool painted body color, especially if you applied a black vinyl patch inside, so that there was about 2" of white hood showing at the leading edge, and the rest looked like it was open, but without actually having to hack up your hood.

Could you remove the air intake and fashion a box to go from the intake in to the faux scoop? then you can make it a plenum by cuttinng out the inside.? Functional is good. Just for looks is wierd. btw: Just me, but it looks "cluttered" w/ your wind deflector as well.

I got to see the scoop in person today... and the pictures do not do it justice. Everyone is focusing on the wrong aspect of the scoop (the post) it is most definately centered on the hood. It is in a great spot as well. Celtic_Curse just didn't capture the best parts of it. I think it could be made functional... if not to help the cold air intake, then to cool the engine bay. The Carbon Fiber is very sharp looking on the two tone vibe. especially with his graphics, roof rack and bug deflector. He does need something to balance it all out in the back and that will be added in due time. Overall two tumbs up to Celtic_Curse. I asked him to take some better pictures of the scoop... if he doesn't get a chance to I'll see if I can tomorrow.
My honest opinion.....I do not like it. But to each his own......and if you like it Ivan......that is what counts. I am thinking of getting a custom hood done for my car next summer......because I am going to have to get some repainting done for sure.....lots of rock ships already.....might as well forge through another winter before getting it repainted.
Got me a new car!!A 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt SS S/C!!Black w/ black leather interior
bet it looks good from the side. you have to make it functional now so it won't be just a bolt on cosmetic thing like those stick on louvers you see all over.
Well thanks everyone, its bolted in no tape here, there is no point in makeing it functional yet till I figure out what I want to pipe it to. When everyone started mentioning its not centered or the middle peice is out I went out and measured its center in the middle and on the hood. oh well bad camera operator I guess. Any ideas as to where to pipe it?

It is not plastic. It is made of Carbon Fiber and Fiberglass. Lots of sports cars have scoops on their hood to help redirect cool air into the engine. Here is a picture of my car. My scoop is functional cuz it helps to suck air in to cool the engine bay. If Celtic_Curse was to cut a hole in the hood where the scoop was it would work the same as mine.
I don't disagree with CF hoods, but I think they should be painted to match the car. I never got the point in leaving them plain. It just seems like bragging. Just my opinion.
A bartender is just a pharmacist with a limited inventory.
Yeah I didn't like it either. I will get it painted eventually... once it's full of rockchips. The reason I got it is cuz I have to drive my car all year round... and it cost me the same amount to get my stock hood repainted as it did to get the CF hood. This way I can swap them. I figure I'll probably paint it to match the car in about 2 years.
I get the concept, however his isn't functional. An add on like that looks weird when it isn't functional...IMO of course. I have the RAM Air Hood, however since I have a CAI I don't need it to function...I have grills in place so you don't see that it doesn't open to the engine.

He just had it put on this week. There is still time to modify the stock hood to make it functional. Just give him some time to plan out what he wants to do. He also plans on putting a grill in there.
Taking it in to get it functioanl this week just hope it turns out ok. Going to vent it over the back of the engine kinda like the Celica's. Wish me luck, it's the first time the body shop has tried this.

I think the scoop matches good with your hood deflector and cladding. I personally like a more "pontiac" scoop look, like the ram-air hood that NovaResource has. But I think yours looks pretty darn good.
