How many weeks to receive an factory ordered Pontiac Vibe?

I ordered the VIbe on AUg 26 Expected delivery October 22. (9 Weeks)I was concerend because I ordered the Nav, 5spd, and SIde air bags all Items which take a while to from what I read.. My car was scheduled to be built the last week of september then the plant ran out of parts due to the long shoremans strike. but the car was completed on 10/7/02 and I should be recieving it on the 22

The dealer just called and I finally have a build date! Week of October 28th. She said to expect it two weeks later, but it sounds like some of the deliveries after build have taken three or four weeks to the east coast. So, ordered on August 23rd, built 10 weeks later, delivered 2(?) weeks after that. Better than the 4-6 months (ABS restriction) she told me originally.

Hi, me again.I just talked to my dealer, the Vibe is on the delivery truck and should arrive tonight. So that's 9/12 order, 10/18 delivery. Not too shabby with the port shutdown in the middle. I'm jazzed.

How long should it take to get a 'build date' from the dealer after you order a VIBE (in Canada)? I ordered about a month ago and called the dealer today and he just laughed when I asked if he had a build date yet. Is it too soon to expect a build date? Thanks.

When I ordered my Vibe at the beginning of July (3 months ago) , my dealer knows that his October's Vibe will be mine. But, it's only at the beginning of September that I had a «real» build date. At first, it was the week of October 14 but now it is the week of October 28. I called again GM (1-800-463-7483) yesterday with my order number and they told me the same (October 28) or two weeks later (November 11). My dealer thinks that the build date will not change and will be the last week of October...Good luck Vibe Rater!Bye

It has been a while since I have made a post, but as my signature indicates, I ordered my Vibe GT last Tuesday, October 15th. My dealer told me it usually takes anywhere from 3 to 4 weeks for them to pick up the order ticket and return an order number. Then another couple of weeks to get a production week. After that it would just be about a month after the production week that the dealer would recieve the car. We were expecting it to arrive sometime around mid to late January next year, just in time for a nice down payment from our tax return. I went back to the dealer Friday, October 18th to turn in the GM discount paperwork that I recieved two days (quick!) after I ordered it. While my dealer and I were talking, the sales manager informed us that we already have an order number and a production week of November 18th! That puts delivery right around mid to late December. A little earlier that expected I would say. Needless to say, I am very excited about getting the car early, although the dealer is going to have to hold on to it until I have the down payment. I will post any information that I get as it comes to me.

I've called GM customer service this morning and they told me that my VIBE has been built yesterday (28-10-2002). My VIBE is almost finished and will probably leave NUMMI at the end of the week!The total waiting time will have been ±4½ months........

I was lucky when i went to buy my vibe... The exact car I wanted on the lot with 80 km on it... I bought it a few days after i saw it and so far i've got very few complaints!

GTs don't seem to be a big problem. I could have bought a GT 5x over by now. In Canada everyone seems to be waiting for the base. In the U.S. most people were waiting for the GT (or at least that is what it seems like)...

I've noticed that as well... mostly in upper NY state. Someone once told me that one reason for this was property taxes. People didn't want to spend a pile of dough on their house because it would just drive up their property taxes. Personally I don't think I buy this "explaination".

I just got news that my Vibe has been built and the factory sent my dealer a duplicate copy of the window sticker. I went and picked it up yesterday. It's pretty cool seeing all the options I ordered and the VIN number. The sales manager said that it should be shipped and they should be getting the car possibly late this month or early December, making the delivery of the vehicle a couple weeks early. For me, everything has happened relatively quickly, from order to bulid anyway, and I don't think that will change as far as delivery goes. I will post a message the day they call me to tell me the car has arrived. It will give everyone an exact on how long from order to delivery of my Vibe. From the way everything is looking, it will be under 8 weeks, which looks like a really good turn around time.

Picked up the new Vibe on Thursday @ 9 am. So far I only have 110 miles on it, mostly back and forth to work, but I should get a good chance to run around in it over the weekend. Love the car, handling is great! I feel like I'm driving in my living room staring out a picture window. The front view is just so spacious. Sorry I don't have access to post pics, but you've seen this car many times I'm sure...Base, Satellite, two tone, Auto, Moons & Tunes, Power Package, ABS, side airbags.My story was in shipping, not building. Ordered 9/8, picked up for build 9/12, built end of September and shipped 10/7. Due to the Chicago shipping snafu, it was 42 days in shipping.Thankfully everything was fine with the car except the recon guy threw away the little cover next to the tranmission handle, so they are getting me another one.Glad to say I can now actually comment on the car and not the wait!

Great News! The Dealer recieved my Vibe November 27th! Excellent turn around time if you ask me. The unfortunate thing is that I cannot pick it up for another 1 1/2 to 2 weeks until I can get my down payment together. I can't wait! I will take pics of the car when I take delivery, otherwise it will be covered in snow, which I found out that my Vibe is already under a blanket of snow from this past weekend. Sometimes I think Michigan really stinks in December, especially when you are going to pick up a new car! Oh well, I'll take the snow if I can get my Vibe!

I just wanted to let you all know that I took delivery of my Vibe 12/14! That makes a total of about 8 weeks from order to delivery of my Vibe. Here is a pic of my baby: The Vibe!

Sweet ride. My old sunfire was that indigo color too. Very schweet. Just be ready for a hot interior in the summer! If you crack the sunroof though, it helps to alleviate a good amount of that heat buildup.

Actually, it's only us Canadians that are tortured with 3 - 6 months waits, or more. American consumers often wait on 5 or 6 weeks at most, as it should be for everyone. Don't worry too much about the incentives when you order. GM is being fairly aggressive right now, so when one offer expires, it will be replaced by something of equal or better value to the buyer. My dad just sent me an email... he said the Chevy dealer just called him, and said his 2003 Silverado just arrived! He ordered his truck on January 7th, I ordered my Vibe on January 5th... hope all the plants are humming along as well as the truck production is!!

You should be able to lock in current incentives now, even if you have a Vibe on order. I did some arm twisting at my dealership and they committed to the current incentive package (worst case) if delivery comes in March 1st or later.

What dealer did you order from in Mississauga? Mine was Royal?We WERE thinking about getting a second VIBE, but NEVER, as long as the wait is this long. GM Canada sucks!

Laurie Williamson. I think it didn't matter were you purchased your Vibe.... it was a 3 to 6 month wait. I heard you still have to wait this long for one. But your right Vibe Rater, until GM USA releases more to GM Canada, I wouldn't wait either.
