Hello all, I'd like to get some advice on any maintenance I should take care of before taking a 600 mile trip from rural Ohio to rural New York in my 2003 fwd automatic with 214000 miles on it. Also, I'll be there for 6 months so, anything I should be aware of as far as up keep that New Your requires that an Ohioan would have no knowledge of. (Is that too odd a question?) Mileage is primarily highway but more recently has been building city. I bought the car a year and a half ago with 172000 and have done a drain and fill on the transmission and replaced the pan gasket and filter about 30k ago and within the last month have done a simple drain and fill. I replaced the plugs at about 174 and feel safe that they are ok with 40k on them. So, aside from that, possibly tires, brakes and oil, is there anything I should think about before taking my car on a 600 mile straight run, across the Allegheny plateau and then make that trip back in October. I know I sound a bit helpless and overly worried but I appreciate the help.
While you're checking the oil, I assume you'll be checking your other fluids? Also, remember to check your spare while you're checking the other tires.
