I think its HOT!It would probably really boost Buick sales for the younger crowd; I wouldn't be ashamed to say that I owned a Buick if it looked lie that (I'm 21)! Heck, I wish they offered the Regal Turbo in a coupe form. I'd seriously consider one for my next car. I'm obviously not looking for practicality, I don't have much to carry around but a couple of friends!
They did offer a Turbo Buick Regal coupe in the late 1970's to late 1980'sHere is a 1979 Buick Regal TurboIn the 1980's they still offered a turbo Regal that looked like the regular Regals but with turbo 3.8l badgesHowever starting in 1982 and sold until 1987 Buick released a special Regal called Grand National. It came with a 200hp (which was fast in the 1980's for a V6) turbo 3.8l V6 and was evil lookingIn 1987 with the writing on the wall for a Regal with rear wheel drive, Buick went all out. The result was one of the fastest production cars ever made. It was called the GNX and it had a 3.8 V6 engine with a Garrett T-3 turbocharger and was underrated by Buick as having only 276HP. Rumor has it that it really had 350HP. This car sat a family of 4 in comfort and ate Vettes for breakfast. This thing went 0-60 in 4.7 sec
Oh, yes. *VERY* aware of the Grand Nationals, and the GNX. My father pined over them from the time I was 6 or 7 years old (1986-87). I learned from early on how to detect one. I still get excited when I see them, and it happens often enough being around Metro Detroit. Those puppies come out for the Dream Cruise, for sure. The best is when they park right next to one another. Such a deceiving vehicle to house such power. A rock group around here took on the name the Grand Nationals, in fact: http://www.myspace.com/thegrandenationals
