Got the Vibe back with new pedal

Post by Adam24303 »

After looking through the carfax on my 09 GT I saw it had not been serviced for the recalls involving the gas pedal. I had read on here that they would eventually just replace the entire pedal assembly if you didn't like how the "cut" pedal felt so I talked with the service guys and got them to just skip ahead of the other "fixes" and replace the whole thing.Vibes running great. The pedal isn't as touchy anymore but not a huge difference. P.s. Enterprise gave me a Crew Cab Chevy Silverado as my rental. Man that thing was a beast. Not a big fan of trucks but it was nice being high up. Would never buy one though ha!

Glad you realized the recall hadn't been done and got it taken care of .I tried to get my dealer to skip the pedal modification and just replace it, because it would have saved me two trips to the dealer, but they wouldn't replace it without first doing the modification .

Which brings me to my next comment ............Quote, originally posted by J_TO_ENVY » but they wouldn't replace it without first doing the modification .That quote is KEY to getting the pedal replaced completely? My son's 2009 Vibe GT DID have the pedal undergo the abortion and it looks like *hit For someone just learning to drive it is way too tight (barely press on the gas and you squeal the tires) plus it is harder to find that "comfort zone" when at your desired speed. If we can get the entire pedal replaced then I WILL Being a two Vibe family you can clearly see/feel the difference between the two pedals and I do not like the way the recall was done to my son's Vibe

I literally had the modification done on both our Vibes, then immediately turned around and scheduled the apointments to have them replaced.

I think what helped me is that I bought my vibe at a chevy dealership that was not previously also a Pontiac dealer so they hadn't handled many recalls. They have been great to me since the day I bought the car a few months ago. Pedal is feeling a lot better btw!

I really like the pedal feel I have on my untouched pedal. I'd hate for it to change at all.

I don't think mine has had the recall yet. I need to swing by the local dealer to see what has been done. I like my pedal as it is though. I did not think the pedal was the issue anyway. But I have a stick so I can disengage the clutch. However they are replacing the drivers side all weather floor mat and i have the old style so it is a chance to get a new mat

Yeah I hated the original pedal. I would barely tap it and it would fly forward and rev the engine. It was really jerky. The new one is still a little sensitive but after driving a few days I am starting to notice the difference.
