Howdy All! Been a member here for a while. Usually just lurk and randomly read forum threads.2003 Vibe GT 207K Miles. After many years of fighting a CEL for evaporative emissions I finally threw my hands in the air and took it to the dealer. In very short order problem was diagnosed. With a swap out of a sensor, a valve and a connector I've been CEL free for a couple hundred miles now and this morning happily passed NYS annual inspection! Overall the car is very solid. I notice that it goes through brakes quickly, a minor inconvenience. Other than that the only major money I've put into it is a new clutch. At 207,000 miles though paranoia is starting to set in. Things are not as tight as they once were and she has the occasional squeak and groan. At this age and miles what are others seeing as common maintenance issues / failures?TIA,Gary in Massena.
Suspension, wheel bearings, clutch, ect... probably just the basics! Put a few bucks aside for when things break. Or replace things when you have the dough before they break!
I was glad to have the clutch replacement behind me. I got 190K out of the original one so I think I got my moneys worth out of it.Front end is starting to get a little looser than I remember - my mechanic says nothing to worry about up there yet. I'm thinking of some new struts and shocks all around in a couple of months which should alleviate some of this. After that will most likely start just replacing some at risk items as the money is available.Feeling good enough about this car to even start on some of the cosmetics and annoying. Passenger window is currently disabled as the track at the bottom of it is shot and needs replacement - still have no found a source though for that.Other than that I need to find the plastic guard that sits over the front drivers mount for the roof rack. What's the highest number of miles anyone has logged on one of these so far?Gary
Hard to know for sure. In these cars the odometer value is stored in the cluster itself, and the cluster is designed to count up to 299,999 and then stop counting. Trip meter still works, but odometer stops at 299,999. There have been several here who have hit that mark, after that, it's hard to know for sure. There was a member who ran Vibes as apart of a taxi service, I think he was the first to report hitting that number, but I can't remember if he was running english or metric clusters. The metric cluster only counts to 299,999 km, 5/8 the distance of the english cluster's 299,999 miles.

Also the strut bearings should help with the "groans" it makes.
