Which clutch?

Post by wingman7000 »

Anyone know which clutch I should put in my 2003 Vibe GT? Whats the difference between a Stage 1 & OEM? My budget is low, but I want the best bang for my buck.Stage 1 Clutch: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...9a0c8OEM: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...e7e5fF1: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...e1bcc

NONE OF THOSE!!! lol but for real the best option there is the exedy. But even its not a great option since it is only 10% stronger in the disc area. the pressure plate is the exact same as the stock clutch. I know it sucks but just save, or just bite the bullet and put down the 280-290 for a exedy stage one clutch. I am having to replace one of those crappy f1 clutches right now. like went out on me couple days ago. it made it a whole six months, the the throw out bearing went through the pressure plate. Spend the extra money now and avoid the headache later. Also have your flywheel resurfaced.

oh and oem just means a clutch that is a close match to the original in strength, durability, and holding power, whereas a stage 1 is a stronger clutch.... in theory...

Thanks injun_josh. Any idea on the quality of the Beck/Arnley Clutch set Advance Auto Parts sells? I ask because I found a 20% off coupon which makes it more reasonable in price.

hey I dunno if your still looking for a clutch but I like these guys. I bought a clutch off them to put into a 300zx twin turbo. It's treated me and my car very nicely. They dont list a specific product for matrix or vibe but they do have one listed for corolla with 1zz and 2zz engines. Theres one for a 2zz engine of your year. If your interested in that clutch you may wanna call them to make sure that that clutch is compatible with vibe or which is the exact one you need. They are southbend clutch. i was thinking the $195 rally series for corolla or celica would work good for you but again I dunno about compatibility. yeah $100 for a clutch would be great but I think a $200 clutch sounds more trouble free. I agree with injen josh that you should get your flywheel resurfaced. http://www.dxdracingclutches.com/
