XM discount

Post by 09vGT »

I called to cancel my XM subscription, knowing I would be offered a better deal. They were charging me close to $50.00 for 3 months of service, constant renewal and I can't afford that right now. If any of you are regular subscribers they still have the $77.00 for a years subscription. if you ask, they will give it to you.; this is what I did lol. I was also offered 5 months of service for like $29.95. No need to pay outrageous prices when they have constant deals. Just thought I'd share to save you guys some $$$!This is a "limited" time deal.. But its been going on for like 3 years.

No more than I drive I can live without XM. I have been paying $12.95 a month for On-Star for the safety peace of mind. Now they are saying my unused phone minutes are expiring so I need to purchase more - I have never used the phone. I am going to call them up and if that is the case I will just cancel.

Thanks. I had just cancelled XM on the Vibe and today I got an e-mail for 12 months for $77.00. Called them up and asked how $65 for the months. They came back with $70 for twelve months and we had a deal. My girls got jazzed when they found out they get to listen to Radio Disney again.

I would never pay for a satellite subscription that can only be used in one vehicle.I have had an XM Roady for around seven or eight years. It is a portable that I can take everywhere with me. I listen all day in my office, I have my home, car, van, garage, and RV set up to simply plug the radio in.I purchased a lifetime subscription so I now pay zero.

I got XM for my fiance in July, gave them my credit card and got the subscription. About 2 months later I recieve a bill in the mail looking for me to pay again. I couldnt find my reference number and they had no record of my payment. I faught with them for a couple weeks then just canceled my subscription. They now call once a month asking us to renew and saying they can just bill the card on file... Safe to say I wont renew....

+1---- I got the same discount on December 28th. Rochester has entercom radio stations, for those of you who havn't heard of this company you are lucky, xm will sound a lot more agreeable if you ever get stuck with corporate crap radio. A lot of our longtime DJ's are gone or censored into conformity with slashed budgets. I hate another payment but I rid myself of some cable tv charges and this is still a lot cheaper, lol. I love Hairnation and the 80's stations. $77.00 a year is a good deal for this, of course you can i-pod it for the price of the audio cable but there is some entertainment value to xm as well.

BTW a lifetime subscription is only good on your one roady, if ever broken or stolen it can't be transferred to another xm/sirius radio. It is tempting to go that route but with technology changes it may not be feasible to think it will truly last more than 10 years but I know it's a good arguement that it can be transferred from vehicle to home to boat, etc. I know some friends of mine that break or lose everything they own and that would be a bad route to go for anyone cursed like that.

Actually, the lifetime SiriusXM plans are transferable based upon the circumstances ...Quote, originally posted by SiriusXM Customer Aggreement »Lifetime Subscription Plan: A "Lifetime Subscription" is one that continues for the life of the Receiver equipment. Lifetime Subscriptions are nonrefundable. Non Automotive Receivers: A Lifetime Subscription associated with a home, portable, or dock & play Receiver is transferable from one Receiver to another Receiver, up to a maximum of three (3) times. For each permitted transfer of a subscription from one Receiver to another or from one person to another you will be charged a transfer fee set forth in this Agreement. Automotive Receivers: A Lifetime Subscription is not transferable if it is associated with a Receiver installed in a vehicle by an automaker or an automotive dealer, except in the event the original Receiver associated with that Lifetime Subscription is stolen, accidentally damaged or if, in the sole discretion of Sirius or XM, it is defective. For each permitted transfer of a subscription from one person to another based upon a stolen or accidentally damaged Receiver you will be charged a transfer fee set forth in this Agreement. No transfer fee will be charged for the transfer of a Lifetime Subscription associated with a Receiver installed by an automaker or an automotive dealer if, in the sole discretion of Sirius or XM, the Receiver is defective.Transfer Fee: If you transfer a Subscription from one Receiver to another or from one person to another, you may be charged a transfer fee of $15 for all but Lifetime Plans. If you transfer a Lifetime Subscription Plan from one Receiver to another or from one person to another the transfer fee is currently $75.00. SATELLITE RADIO SERVICE SUBSCRIPTIONS ARE TRANSFERABLE ONLY TO THE EXTENT PROVIDED FOR HEREIN. A LIFETIME SATELLITE RADIO SUBSCRIPTION IS NOT TRANSFERABLE IF IT IS ASSOCIATED WITH A RECEIVER INSTALLED BY AN AUTOMAKER OR AN AUTOMOTIVE DEALER IN A VEHICLE, EXCEPT IN THE EVENT THE ORIGINAL RECEIVER ASSOCIATED WITH THAT LIFETIME SUBSCRIPTION PLAN IS STOLEN, ACCIDENTALLY DAMAGED OR, IN OUR SOLE DISCRETION, IS DEFECTIVE. No transfer fee will be charged for the transfer of a Lifetime Subscription Plan associated with a Receiver installed by an automaker or an automotive dealer if, in our sole discretion, the Receiver is defective.I am really thinking of getting the lifetime plan myself (for a home radio), I've had XM for awhile and already paid them over time what a lifetime plan would cost. Ever since I got the Vibe I haven't even listened to regular FM radio, only the XM Radio. I am going to be replacing the factory radio/XM tuner combination with an aftermarket setup soon. If it is not considered a "automotive receiver" I may get a lifetime subscription for the vibe as well - we'll see I guess ...

I stand corrected, I read a lot of complaints from lifetimers who had problems and other users who couldn't get a credit from xm/sirius when they got a new vehicle, so I thought it was a no go.

Well, I have only had XM, so I can't speak for Sirius, but while I absolutely love the XM service I will be the first to admit that the XM customer service is absolutely awful so I can understand. Transferring radios is usually alright, but trying to get refunds is nearly impossible - we had to fight with them for months on this issue once before. There have been times I would rather bang my head repeatedly against a brick wall rather than speak to their overseas call center where nobody speaks English. That's part of the reason why I want to get the lifetime plan, so I don't have to deal with them anymore. If they were to be difficult, I would just reference their own customer service agreement.

Only a fool would buy a lifetime subscription on a car radio. The subscription is not transferable and most people only own a car for a few years. When I talked to a customer service representative they made that clear right up front. Also if people abuse, destroy, or lose their belongings that is a personal problem concerning their carelessness, it has nothing to do with my buying a lifetime subscription. I take care of my property and like posted above I can transfer my subscription. I already have another XM Roady that I got from eBay years ago. I will transfer my subscription to that radio when my current radio fails and still use all my adapters and docks.

That way you only need one subscription.

yes that must be where I got mixed up between car only radios and portable devices like your roady. I bought my friend an audiovox xpressRCi and she bought the discounted rate subscription, I guess she could buy the lifetime one since it's transferrable, she's not one of the ones who destroys everything so she'd be pretty safe, how much was your lifetime subscription btw?

When My five year subscription expired I had to get something and the lifetime was cheaper than another five years. I believe the five year was up to around $700.They don't advertise the lifetime subscriptions, if you want one you have to call and ask for it. It isn't posted on the web and some customer service people don't even know that they offer it.

Thanks for the 411, I did look as well and could not find it on the website earlier, I will advise her she may want to go that route, I guess I wondered if they were willing to haggle on the lifetime memberships as well or only on the $77.00 a year deal for xm??Thanks again, probably worth considering a lifetime deal with another xpressRci for me too!!

For the most part, that comment would be correct But in my case it is the furthest thing from the truth I purchased a lifetime membership back in August 2009 on my Vibe GT for one of several reasons. First I own my vehicles anywhere from 10-20 years so the Vibe will be in my possession well into my retirement (13 years from now) and hopefully beyond Secondly, if you read the fine print about transferable terms in autos, it stated "except where stolen, accidentally damaged, or defective" and let me tell you we ALL can manipulate any one of those conditions to where the transfer would be granted It then would cost only the $75 (likely more in the future) and you are then listening to a newer radio Finally I have a lifetime subscription on my home stereo from Sirius which was only $299 back in 2003 and I'm well ahead of the game now being 8 years later Our family always has music on somewhere all the time so it was a priority for me when purchasing the Vibe. In answering the prior post, here is exactly what it cost me 18 months ago for the XM lifetime plan .................Account SummaryDescription AmountPrevious Balance $0.00SiriusXM Service $399.99Radio Service Fees $61.20Current Charges Subtotal $461.19State & Local Taxes $31.13Taxes & Fees Subtotal $31.13Total $492.32

I have XM radio right now just because I just got the 09 vibe so I get like....3 months free (have heard stories of being charged cause they keep it on) along with 3 months free of onstar but because I have to cut $$$ i'm not keeping either, perhaps onstar later just because it would be nice to have it if I need it (like the one time I was by myself and was changing a tire when the car rolled and landed on my hand...) however no XM will stay i'm going the cheep rout and going to find some old Ipod from a friend somehow and use that nifty mp3 adapter I have in the car and that will work fine with me lol.

Call and ask. Thats what I did. They may offer others, but ask for the $77.00 a year. Can't hurt anything.

Thanks.I was just browsing their website - I think I will need to look into one of their portable devices, having the service married just to one car would not be the best way to go.

Tried calling today as a new subscriber to see if they had any special offers. No discounts besides what is listed on the website. I told them that was too expensive and no thanks. Will wait and see if any deals come along later.
