I just bought a Vibe with some seriously bald tires. It's been dry the past couple weeks so it hasn't been a problem but I'm getting new ones. Discount Tire seems to be a well-regarded and competent company so I'll be heading there before work tomorrow.I don't drive hard or a lot (I do most commuting & a lot of errands on my bicycles so a lot of the miles go on them rather than the car) so my priorities would be:-price-fuel economy/low rolling resistance-braking/handling performanceI've been reading the Consumer Reports ratings and it seems from there like the Kumho Solus or Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max would be good options. At the same time, since I'm not very demanding, would there be anything wrong with cheaper options like the Hankook Ventus HRII or Riken Raptor HR? There's nothing on them in Consumer Reports but poking around online they seem to be ok.
Any tire will be OK... even the RS-A's that came with my car were OK. But that's not good enough IMO!!!Quote, originally posted by agag »-price-fuel economy/low rolling resistance-braking/handling performance Pick 2 of the 3.If you want cheap you'll probably lose on either FE/LRR or Handling. If you want great handling and keep your fuel economy your tire life will be shorter and you will (most likely) pay more.If you want great gas mileage you'll most likely lose some grip but a good longlasting fuel efficient tire can be had at a decent price. I would suggest the tires my wife and I are both now running... Continental ExtremeContact DWS. They are reasonably priced, have a high wear rating and for us so far so good, terrific traction, a nice ride and are quiet. They are also said to do well in light snow and my one experience w/them bears that out. If I could love a tire, I love these and will be back for more.As for rolling resistance, I don't know. Traction and long life are my two biggies when I searched for tires. Michelins also has some good tires, but they are pricier and do the research cause not all are created equal.BTW: Sorry for the late response. I only now saw this thread.

as 06pvibe said I would go for what he has on his car that's the exact tire I plan on getting for my 09 vibe eventually, I have the goodyear eagle GT tires that are the thinner more sport like tires with an 18" wheel while they do look nice I heard bad things about these tires and I feel every bump and they are really loud on the road so with getting those tires he mentioned and sound proofing i'm hoping it will help with the issue. I would tell you how well my current tires perform in winter weather but I only drove it for TWO DAYS before it went back to the dealership where its currently being detailed and painted *sighs*
